"No More Heart Attacks" A Presentation by Steve Blake, ScD

  • Dipublikasikan tanggal 18 Mei 2014
  • We can virtually eliminate heart attacks as the #1
killer in America. Learn more about how clogged
arteries develop and how to stop and even reverse ar-
terial clogging. Find out which diets can lower your risk
of heart disease. Learn which fats constrict arteries and
increase the risk of a fatal clot. See how excess satu-
rated fats increase arterial clogging and heart attacks.
Oxidized cholesterol becomes a hazard to arterial
health when foods high in cholesterol are cooked. See
studies showing how nuts and seeds can open arteries,
lower adhesion, and reduce clotting. We will review the
latest research so that you can choose heart-safe life-
style options including fitness and stress reduction.

Dr. Steve Blake authored the 2008 McGraw-Hill college textbook Vitamins and Minerals Demystified, A Nutritional Approach to Alzheimer's Disease, Arthritis Relief, Understand-
ing Dietary Fats and Oils, Healing Medicine, and co-authored Mosby's Drug Guide for Nurses, 4th edition. He created The Herb Doctors database with world-wide medical plant information and also Diet Doctor software for assessing dietary nutrients. He has written a pilot study for Hawaii Pacific Neuroscience to reduce the prevalence of Alzheimer's disease using nutrition.

He and his wife Catherine live on an organic farm on Maui that is solar powered.

Every day, I eat a massive salad of: kale, sweet peppers, apples, carrots. On top, I put several tablespoons of chia seeds, and flax seeds, and drizzled with some 100% natural unsalted peanut butter. Some fat free Italian dressing makes it delicious. And I meet all my benchmark goals for the day: 700mg vitamin C, 18mg vitamin E, 65,000 IU carotenoids, ALA 35 grams! Because of this simple meal, my omega-6 to omega-3 ratio is usually 2:3!

He is demonizing coconut oil. Remember you are in Hawaii.

Before we eat how do we determine if the fat is already oxidized?

    Thank you Dr. Blake.
Can you ask your wife to share her recipe for creamy walnut dressing? I would like to make it. ;)

The main take away from this is 1 avoid animal products. 2 vegan whole food diet which is the most realistic to the greatest number of people.
Processed, synthetic, animal products are almost poison to humans.

This was great but his assessment of the Ornish/McDougall diet is inaccurate (He also missed the low fat raw vegan diet). They lower total fat, but they can and do eat some nuts and seeds. Their omega 3-6 ratio is fine because they've lowered their intake of omega 6 and increase omega 3 which is present in non-oily plant foods. Other than that THANK YOU!

Total cholesterol is LDL+ HDL, I assume? Because if you include triglycerides, the total cannot be that low.

Same with carotenoids! McDougall LOVES sweet potatoes, carrots, and other orange vegetables!

Why does his table claim that the McDougall diet is low in Vitamin C? In my experience, the McDougall diet is extremely high in Vitamin C, and EASILY gives you the RDA for Vitamin C every day. Sometimes from breakfast alone!

I would had loved to hear more from Dr. Blake. I've got a few questions I"d love to ask him myself about cholesterol and the genetic component. He didn't even mention that part. Also, there you have it folks, I've heard it before about coconut oil being touted as a health food and it most certainly is not. The coconut oil industry has done a fine job in promoting it as such.
