Filipino Style BBQ for $1 in the Heart of LA - Street Food Icons

  • Dipublikasikan tanggal 13 Okt 2019
  • Dollar Hits is a Filipino street food staple in Los Angeles, specializing in meat skewers that cost $1. Customers can cook pork barbecue and chicken barbecue, along with pork ears, chicken feet, and more on charcoal grills outside the restaurant, located in a nondescript mini-mall in downtown LA's Historic Filipinotown. The three sisters who run Dollar Hits immigrated from Pampanga in the Philippines and have since become local street food legends. Other offerings at Dollar Hits include chicken liver, heart, and intestines, fish and lobster balls, and balut, a fertilized duck egg.

Okay, im Filipino, but I moved to Canada when I was 3, basically grew up here. My parents tell me how amazing Philippines is, and the more they tell me the more I want to go. I was told that I had ALOT of family there. All I know is one, I think... I'm more Canadian then Filipino, in my opinion. every time we go to a place that's Filipino, it doesn't seem authentic to me. Idk but we do things like eating on leaves of some sort and lining food up in a straight line, and I was told to fight for food, which confused me very hard. We do this every year. I do this with my rich family and cousin's, it somewhat fun. We cook the intestines all the time with the ears to family gathings. I also eat the duck egg, but without the duck, because it disgust me. I don't get how people can eat it...

These are the people that deserve the money. People that actually get up and work for money. Not some fast food restaurant whom employees dont even like working there. People working with passion shows in the result. This goes for everyone who was on this show

$1 for that? that's overpriced IF they're back home of course 😁
LA has a high cost of living afterall so that price is super cheap.
for anyone wanting to try this...
just marinate meat with calamansi and just cook it the next day, mix cooking oil with ketchup then brush the meat while cooking.
    it's the best

I live half the year in the Philippines and the bbq is everywhere and part of the culture. Masarap.. hahah funny these ladies are Kapampanga. I live there and also Zambales or Subic. This is very authentic. Matter of fact I may buy a plane ticket to LA. Its closer than Manila. Edge of dark the stalls are everywhere in Philippines. This video really makes good memories for me.

In the philippines when you slaughter an animal like goats, pigs etch. The only things that go to waste are excrements and urine, and fur that we burn even the bone they are boiled to make soup, a.k.a. sabaw. Nakaka sabik naman yan. Parang gusto ko nang umuwi sa bayan namin ng quirino. Please let us know where to find you, so we could visit and enjoy the food you are serving if ever we visit california again.
