Good work and a nice video!👍Two of the experiments, the one with the loaded Steel wire melting through the ice block that freezes again on top of it and the other the instantaneous freeze initiated by impact or foreign object, we carried out at physics class at school. The instanetaneous freeze in our experiment was initiated by a small grain of sand. Keep up the good work, your videos are really nice!😊

The first reaction doesn't actually make ice crystals. The baking soda (NaHCO3) and vinegar (HC2H3O2) react to form aqueous sodium acetate (NaC2H3O2). This sodium acetate is still in solution and is supersaturated. When a seed crystal is introduced, it provides a site for all the dissolved acetate to precipitate out as crystals. Thus, the "ice" that forms are actually sodium acetate crystals. (This is also how rock candy is made!)

The reason why it boils with the ice is because after putting on the cap the water is still at boiling temperature but the pressure build up inside prevents water from boiling. Adding the ice cube on top condenses the built up gasses and allows for more water to boil to replace the condensed water vapor.

Hello I have tried the instant ice experiment twice, but it still hasn't worked like in the video. When I hit the bottle on the table, it doesn't turn to ice, instead just a small amount of loose ice starts floating around. What should I do? Thanks!

I guess your temperature wasnt low enough, if you go to like -10°C it should work well

@AJArcade that. Also if anything it would be quite warm as a lot of precipitations are exothermic.

The reason why his hand is ok was because there was not ice even involved in that experiment. Sodium acetate salt was crystallizing on his hand and the other objects that he put in the container.
