Looking back I can't believe they had the main actors doing voice acting for this
@OVAH Lord the avengers game has nothing to do with the movies, and you realize the actors and their look isn’t the “official” look of the character’s nor is it the look they have in the comics, they the game is not based on the movies lmao
Vudeogames were promotional items back. Often came out alongside the movie so they needed to make just as good of an impression.
Also it was in their contract whereas todays "superheroes" want a huge sum of money to even show up
@Christian Frates yeah, he's one of a handful that gives it his all despite the quality. Eric Roberts is another example. Nicholas Cage is also an example but he's more of a complicated example.
I know right it blew my mind
@Caleb Connell yeah but that was almost a decade after spider-man. There wasn't anything "common" because before Spider-Man, comic book movie games was like... Blade for the PS1, or Judge Dredd on the SNES and Genesis. It just really wasn't done until Spider-Man.
The man seriously played through this entire game for the sole purpose of setting up the Activison/Microsoft joke. Legend.
Still better than Animal Crossing
I love how willem Defoe's acting is oscar worthy even in spiderman: the movie: the videogame
The Oscars wish they were Dafoe-worthy.
@Unknown Device eh fuck that, Tobey’s having fun with it.
Willem Dafoe’s the GOAT
@Kabir Kumar he's at 3:16
Meanwhile, there's Tobey...
“FUCK YOU, SPIDAMAAAAAAN!”
-Willem Dafoe
That was my favorite like from the originals so sad they didn’t put it in far from home

I probably put in 70 hours into this game when I was a kid yet I’ve never seen any of these levels except for the tutorial black void purgatory where I was stuck in a swinging and fighting limbo.
I played through it as a kid. Loved it
nah you're me or something
@LJ holy shit that is awesome! Well…maybe not the fact that nobody could beat the tutorial, but the fact you had a gamecube at your school with this game and able to relate to the struggle of only ever seeing dude’s getting beaten up and disappearing into the void…
We had a GameCube in my school when I was little and no one beat the tutorial so every day I’d witness kids play the void doing nothing but beating on dudes on rooftops
It wasn’t only me lol!
Being able to play as the Green Goblin with almost all of his boss abilities really set my expectations for secret unlockables too high as a kid. It was all downhill from there.
For real
@R.R. Bigman and cool secrets even in number sm2
This guy gets it
omg for real right? the green goblin unlock is hands down still the coolest unlockable ive ever experienced.
@Gannie Lukks now you gotta pay for all this imbedded in the dlc crap.
The beautiful red head is uncle ben
Circus in town?
@Eric Forsyth No worries, I was just exaggerating. I was able to do that sort of thing convincingly enough like 2 years into video editing haha
u can tell he swapped the lines but that just makes it funnier
@Mikeureko: Not even expert level, it's blatantly from a different line. That just makes it funnier
I hate that dunkey brings back my childhood game and plays it exactly the way when I was a kid. That's talent
I hated this game when I was little ;D
Spiderman 2 was such a massive quantum leap improvement. It took me years to finally play it.
Beginning with I hate and ending with thats talent is confusing
he died a little less than i did as a kid, but it was reminiscent for sure
"Spiderman no, not even you can fix that company" Even Spiderman doesn't have enough power to take responsibility for that mess
@JC - And workplace misconduct.
With great power comes even greater microtransactions. And NFTs.
1:45 This is the type of shit I did constantly when I played this game many years ago. I'm glad Dunkey finds entertainment in these games the same way. Good stuff.
Reminds me of the level in Disney Skate where Zurg hits you with his pellet gun lol
Circus in town?
SM2 was even better. Hanging thugs up on lamp posts and using them as punching bags or carrying them up to the tallest building and diving down head first into the pavement lmao
This game really makes you FEEL like the circus is in town
So what if it is
Spider-man is one of the heroes of all time
"Wow. Good for you." *-Bruce Campbell*
Looks like the freak wants to play!
This game was truly a product of its time. I remember as a kid thinking it was the coolest game I had ever played. Then I go back now and it’s awful but in the best kinds of ways.
What I love about games from that period though is the extras you'd get from completing the game. As you can see from the vid, beating the game unlocks goofy mini-games, novelty cheat-codes and the ability to play as the main villain as a totally new character. Nowadays what do you get? A shitty trophy/achievement. And playing as a new character probably wouldnt exist but if it did, it would be $60 DLC.
It's one of the reasons I've always resented achievements. People have totally accepted a little pop-up in the corner of the screen as a substitute for fun post-game content.
I agree. It's the best game ever made.
For 2001, this game's amount of detail blew my freaking mind.
Circus in town?
I played this game back on the GameCube, it was hilarious how funky these voice lines were.
Circus in town?
They didn't gave two fucks lol. Tobey was half asleep the whole time in all of the Spidey games
I actually really liked Tobey's lines especially when he was making jokes versus the movies where he had to be serious
*This game really has the Exaggerated Swagger of the Circus Being in Town.*
@Mostwantedtbest circus in town indeed
@William That's my name That line is from a Gamespot review, not IGN.
Y'all still on this joke? It was never funny to begin with
Clowns rate this: ten out of ten! A real circus experience.
Dunkey yelling "the circus in town??" over and over while kicking the guys reminds me of spamming "web swing!" in MvC3. Good times...
I remember really loving this game on the Gamecube as a kid, playing as Green Goblin blew my mind when I unlocked it.
This was one of my favourite childhood games. An absolute masterpiece.
I loved this game so much, I'm so glad to see Dunkey having fun with it. That narrator guy used to be so much fun to trash talk. What great memories. Great video Dunk-Man-Do!
Bruce Campbell from the Evil Dead movies. Also a series on Netflix. The dude is one of my favorite actors.
The unfortunate thing about this game is that we'll never truly know whether or not the circus was in town
Activision became the circus over time.
Hahahahahaha omg i cant stop laughing XD
Circus I’m town?
It’s New York there’s like 8 million people there surely there’s enough for a couple circuses
😂😂😂
Every single dunkey vid feels like it’s just leading up to one giant joke at the end, and they always work.
This is literally one of my childhood games, and I’m so glad it’s getting covered!
This game really makes you “feel” like Spider-Man.
As a kid I could never get past the first mission.. so glad dunkey is here to spark these memories of failure
this version of spiderman would kill uncle ben for a clue
Look at little ben senior
"Circus in town?"
- Uncle "cute redhead" ben
yep bully maguire we love
Wouldnt doubt he would kill aunt may too
He is going to kill the cute redhead? What a chump.
This was legit the only Spiderman game I ever played, and it was on PS2.
What memories..
The “Circus in Town” bullshit made me LAUGH way too hard, had to run upstairs so I didn’t laugh in front of everyone.
"Who's that?"
"Magneto."
This was way funnier than it should have been
The fact that this game gave you playable Green Goblin, with an entire different moveset *and new voice lines*, and tucked it away as postgame bonus content is completely ludicrous to me. Like, here you go, have a second game while you're at it
Wha-…I just re-bought this game a couple days ago!! So cool to see lots of other people grew up with it too. Playing as the Green Goblin after beating the game was the absolute best
This game was my favorite game as a child, oh my gosh it was amazing!
Same til 2 came out but i like #1 for the cheats, i played it the other day just recently, still a great game
Honesty this is one of my favorite childhood games; it really makes you *feel* like you could rule this city with more pictures of spidaman!
I never managed to beat this game, no wonder I’ve been a nerd trapped indoors ever since the game came out.
This game was so memorable in my childhood, I’ve never been able to beat Shocker until I was older 😂
I remember this game. Brings me back. Thanks for the nostalgia trip dunkey
I loved this game and Spider Man 2 game!
Have a soft-nostalgic spot for lots of single-player games from this era. Especially some of the franchise/movie-licensed games like this
this game gives me so much nostalgia, it makes me happy knowing that people actually know it exists
This shit is extremely nostalgic though, it's only made better by Dunkey's shenanigans,
@J Z I used to get my dad to rent this for me and I would just spend hours swinging around.
I remember walking into my local Anchor Blue and seeing kids all around this game while our dads shopped haha
High quality nostalgia
The fact that Bruce Campbell is included as the narrator because of his connection to Sam Raimi is absolutely insane
This is still one of my favorite games and I’m so glad you made this video!!! 😂
It’s dope how they kept some of the level designs exactly the same throughout the years in different games 🔥🔥🔥
Man I love that game, used to play it A LOT when I was a kid. I recently played it on my PC just to bring good old memories back
This game really makes you FEEL like the circus is in town
when he swings he's just full of the exaggerated swagger of a real carny
The way he flips off of rooftops is just FULL of the exaggerated swagger of a circus clown
There's a little circus for everyone
Keh keh it feels like swinging feels like being spiderman feels like a game that feels like youre spiderman
Thank you for unlocking the memories I didn’t know I had with this game
This is legit one of my all time fav! Good stuff. I still own it on the first Xbox
This game really makes npcs feel like they're fighting Spiderman
This game really makes you feel like your husband made your outfit for you
It really makes you feel like you are the Spider-Man: The Movie: The Game: The Musical: The Series
@Iniuriam Nomini Circus In Town?
@yx rAckman Circus in town?
@YeaMan CIRCUS IN TOWN??????
@Stеvеn Не 🅥 CIRCUS IN TOWN??????
@Iniuriam Nomini in town?
"Dibs on the spider" Honestly this is the best Spider-Man game.
This game has Bruce Campbell, Willem Defoe, and Toby Mcguire? Wow.
Dude this game was my life back in 2003. Beat it a half a dozen times. The noises the villain's made after you beat them was the highlight.
This game really makes you feel like the circus is in town
I have a vivid childhood memory of beating this game, Tobey Maguire telling me “go outside and play”, and turning my head to look out my window to see freezing torrential downpour.
Well, did you listen?
For me it was dark out, and my mom was beside me as I beat the game lol
Same thing for me except it was like 12AM.
An inspirational story.
hi
I loved this game honestly I forgot how broken it was.
This game was one of my favorites as a child
I used to love this game as a kid, the robot level and the moshpit bonus mode was great.
This was the first video game I ever owned! Oh the memories!
Man, I remember playing this back in the day! The nostalgia! Very fun! 😆 👍🏻
The narration with Bruce Campbell, awkward controls, and the old ost! Classic! I remember when I was younger I was so disappointed you couldn't touch the ground and explore the city, but man, what was next was a masterpiece...SPIDAH MAN 2 BABYY!
"Who's that?!" "MAGNETO." 😆
Holy shit... So many memories coming back from this. I had completely forgotten about this; I played this soooo much when I was a kid.
I played the absolute shit out of this game years ago when it was still pretty new! Still loved spider man games just as much with the ps4 one, trying to get an unbroken flow of combos, and flying around full speed off of george of the concrete jungle spider web ropes, will always be too good for the kid inside to not have one hell of time playing.
Hands down one of the best games I’ve played on PS2
I played this game so much as a kid and like 70% of that time was spent just swinging around on webs in that black void tutorial world
Wym ?? That was free roam mode ???
Remember when the narrator guy left to get a sandwich, and when he came back it had too much mustard? What a great tutorial.
HOLY SHIT SAME
Same, I could never get past the shocker level cause it was too *hard* for my pea sized brain
im glad im not the only one, it also hurts me
The Fact that I would play this game so many times growing up looking back at it now is mind blowing.
Daaaamn this game takes me back. I remember loving the boobytrapped tower part because of all the stuff exploding. good but hard game as a kid :D
I played this game a lot as a kid.
I loved the hell out of it.
Damn, I almost forgot this existed, I played the hell outta this game when I was younger!
I played this game religiously as a kid. Hearing "Circus in town" really took me back
so true
I thought it says suckers in town
@Spoland You lost, kid?
Looks like the freak wants to play
FREAK
My favorite Spiderman games are the ones with no ground! A true masterpiece 👏
This game was soooooo good back in the day. I want to play it now
I remember playing this as a kid! I liked Spider-Man 2 a lot more, though. The Spider-Man game on the PS1 is arguably better than this too because of its story
Spider-Man: The movie: The Game is actually good. I hope they make a Spider-Man: No Way home: The Movie: The Game game soon.
MCU doesn't really do movie games anymore though I can pretty much guarantee you, they'll be tie in costumes in Spider-Man 2....and if they did make a no way home game, they really gotta workshop that name! unless you wanna sound like your reading an eassy to the dude at gamestop... Especially if they add marvel In the title. "Marvel's Spider-Man now way home, the movie the game exclusively for PlayStation"
I remember this game being so damn hard. The "circus in town" guy is burned in my memory. This whole spooky warehouse
I remember I rented this game I never made it past electro
I thought I was the only one
I have vivid memories of that warehouse and getting super fucking stuck :/
Looks like the freak wants to play
Didn't realize how much this game had an impact on me as a kid until watching this video.
this is a perfect example of why games from back then were just great. 10/10 goty
This game is so nostalgic for me. I played it all the time on my Gamecube.
This game gives me a lot of memories of my childhood
“The beautiful red head is- uncle Ben” that was so unexpected and gave me a really good laugh
Well Peters feelings about his uncle and their secret relationship is finally revealed
The second one of this series is legit great game, best webslinging barely now being surpassed in 2018+ modern Spider Man games
Always gives me a good laugh love u dunky
Another good video man! Always enjoy the humor! I remember those days when that game came out... When PS2 was the shit!
Had this game when I was a kid. I never got past that first level because the forklift scared the shit out of me.
This game is a certified classic… I haven’t played it yet though
@Consis Looks like they are all gone now
@Otter's Vintage All-Sorts I know lmaoo😂
@YeaMan CIRCUS IN TOWN
I love how the only replies to this are nonsense spambots.
i remember i had a demo for this game when i was really young. it was probably about 30 minutes long but i played it for ages
This was the first video game my parents let me buy when I bought my GameCube as a kid. Holy nostalgia hit
Holy shit this game brings back some of the earliest memories I have of videogames. Goddamn this is nostalgic
one of my favorite childhood classics
This was literally one of my first video games. I could never get past the second level, so I’d just replay the tutorial or the first level over and over and over again.
wow we had similar playthroughs then lmao i eventually got passed it but i was stuck for a while there
@YeaMan CIRCUS IN TOWN??????
YO SAME THO !!! I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE !!!!!!
Glad to see i was not the only one hahaha
The first level was amazing though, the music and graphics were so good. It holds up really well and having enemies that DON'T block so much makes the level feel so quick. Like you have the power to stop them. When you get to the warehouse is when I was stopped too. There are just so many enemies and they all block and there is no cover for the gunfire.
Never thought i’d ever see this game again 😭 i used to play this sooo much as a little kid!! I will always remember being confused asf the first time i went to walk around on the ground and fucking died because you cant touch the ground in this game. Classic.
i’m surprised at how much voice acting effort tobey macguire put in for this game, in the spider-man 2 game he sounds super lethargic like he doesn’t wanna be there. you should totally make a video on the second game it’s so weird and funny and the music is really odd, it’s actually a pretty good game tho considering the year it came out.
I remember how excited I was for Spiderman 2 The Game after playing this
"This is worse than the time I went to the circus in town"
-Gex
I like the part where Donkey Kong was at the circus
Circus in Town?
Donkey Kong January is off to a strong start.
That was in town
I unironically loved this game
I need a series of him going through spider man games 😂😂
The nostalgia... I played the F out of that game as a kido when I didn't even understand english yet and I didn't watch any of those Spiderman movies. I was just like Dunk at 1:45 having a blast slamming people into walls. I had so much fun.
I love that the song used in the ending is the intro to the main menu theme from an actually good Spider-Man game on the PS1. I replayed it recently and it still holds up.
I'm 90% sure that Dunkey made this video solely to throw that amazing shade at the very end. Absolute perfection.
@We Are Legion so sorry I’m having trouble hearing you
You know being all the way up your ivory tower us lessers just can’t begin to comprehend what true…..
It’s not 2013 anymore Microsoft has clearly moved on it’s time Dunkey and all Ponies move on from a dead agenda your just embarrassing yourselfs Xbox is coming back because it’s not living in the past
We'll continue to bully Microsoft till they give us a good game lmao
absolutely.
I fucking love this game, my childhood came rushing back to me
wow this brings back memories dude. playing this on my friends PS2, like 6 years old
