  • Health and nutrient density follows the order of the plant's
reproductive life cycle; from leaf, to flower, to fruit and, last-
    ly, to seed.

Become familiar with the secret of the healing and antiaging power of the plant's life cycle and how nature has arranged things to be more simple and beautiful than we could have imagined on our own. Don't miss this one. (Madhava Das replaces originally scheduled speaker, Julieanna Hever.)

Even with the shift from hunter gatherer to agriculture, most people still had to work hard so our ancestors ate as much of the cheap starch staples as needed to have energy for work so there was no interest in calorie restriction. Probably better to exercise more rather than to try calorie restriction. Tubers need less water to grow than grains so tubers should be the solution to feeding the neverending overpopulation problem and the newer global warming, water shortages, etc. Vegans can get micronutrients from cooked mushrooms and also vegetables, tiny amounts of seaweeds, plus daily vitamin b12 supplement. Most of the traditional diets are based on getting most calories from cheap starch staples and not from vegetables. The 1949 post war poverty okinawa diet got most calories from sweet potato, was very low in the expensive fruits, very low in expensive and high fat nuts and seeds like sesame seeds. The sweet potato was introduced to okinawa around 1605 and became very popular (needs much less water than rice to grow). Boiled sweet potato became the reliable way to get enough calories to do hard work. The sweet potato originated in south america. I prefer boiling bec. fiber works better with lots of water and I drink all the water used for boiling. Global warming is also a factor in deciding diets since I heard beyond 1.5 degree rise is enough to doom small islands. I am in california and I have heard rumors that California is on the path to desertification. Don't forget to enjoy paradise while it lasts.
