He's not an Emmy winning voice actor. He's an Emmy winning animation director who also works as a voice actor.

Maximus Riegel in the credits, But the Emmy-award wining voice actor Sam Riegel? That seems a tad out of their league.
I just love how this started as "Hey, we want to make a 20 minute animation. Can we get some money for that?" And everyone was just "Cool. How about 2 seasons worth?"

@T3hD0ct3 I agree, that is what will likely happen, but that doesn't change my original point which was you can't fund multiple seasons of a fully voice acted and animated show with just a couple million dollars
@Red Hood However, after the immense success of the show, Amazon will likely decide to foot the bill to keep it going, should the creators decide they want to.

@Michael Kenis they're not, though? They have to get paid? Also even if you paid none of the voice actors the animation for 2 seasons would go way way over a couple million dollars
This cast gives off strong "everyone here is thrilled that they get to be involved with it" vibes, which is usually a very good leading indicator
Half of the voice cast is voicing characters they created and wrote themselves ("wrote" as in played in the game) while the other half are people who have played on the show in past, but using different characters and so come into their new role with already intimate knowledge of the setting.

I mean, so far it's pretty great, definitely much simpler than the actual campaign, but that's probably to be expected when you have 22 minutes not 4- 5 hours lol.
Never thought I would be as much hyped for a series. The cast alone makes it worth watching and on top of that comes the animation style as well as the fact that this basically brings the story of campaign 1 to life including the players.
I mean don't get me wrong, the initial reviews are pretty good and I'm optimistic for the outcome but keep in mind these people are paid actors and more or less every show has videos of them saying how great their experience was making it and praising different aspects of it. it's part of the deal so unless there is a major screw up this doesn't say all that much
Don't forget the Mark Kermode rule. The more fun the cast is having on set, the worse the final product tends to be.

It took me a second to register this .. Delilah Briarwood is Azula. I can't even express how excited I am for her. Azula has been my absolute favorite villain for years, and a big part of that is that incredibly sinister confidence that Griffin brought to the role. Perfect choice.
I didn't know at first but the SECOND Delilah first spoke, I recognized that voice and I was like ..."WAIT. NO WAY."
Googled it and boom, suspicion confirmed. And boy, did Grey do this character justice.

Imagine being a voice actor, and being chosen by a group of voice actors to voice a character in *their* project of the heart. That is high praise.

I imagine Sam and Laura just discussing asking David, and then tell Matt, and Matt's like "we can certainly try" and they take it as a challenge , and then one day after shooting Duck Tales they just approach David and ask him if he know D&D and Critical Role , and then just telll him al about it , and then ask him if he'd ike to be a part of it - in their character voices. LOL

I nearly cried seeing Dominic Monaghan. Lord of the Rings is so close to my heart and one of the catalysts for the high fantasy genre and DND itself. It feels so right and wonderful to have someone who brought that story to life also be apart of this.
They've got Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Warcraft, Gears of War, Doctor Who, Harley Quinn, Crossing Swords, Avatar: The Last Airbender... the list of franchises goes on and on.

All of the voices just seem so right with every character, especially Anna Ripley's voice, that just fits my internal interpretation of her so well!
I gotta be real sits been a while since I watched campaign one and I forgot some of Ripleys moments and hearing Kelly voice one line for her, I can't imagine anyone else voicing her(besides matt obviously)
I so wish I'd become a Critter years ago, but I only started watching a couple months ago. Just finished Campaign 1 and if I could go back in time and support the Kickstarter I totally would. I wish I could thank everyone involved personally, but I believe we all would if we could.

Yea I started like 3 months ago and is still in the thick of things in C1. Currently at the City of Brass, and really enjoying the ride! Tons of episodes to go, kinda wish I would've at least finished C1 before the series came out(tbh I thought I could a few months back lol) but also enjoying every second of the campaign and not wanting it to end!
I would definitely go back in time if only to be critter during campaign 1. I started with campaign 2 and sadly I missed the Kickstarter and being a part of this community.
GINA TORRES! David Tennant! A "who's who" of A list voice actors! This has taken on a life unimaginable! I believe "Vox Machina" is going to start a trend of house hold names (Clooney, Pitt, Aniston, etc ..) wanting in on this!

The second they revealed her I fucking screamed. Laura saying 'she understands the heart' couldn't be more true, gAHD. I dont know who I wouldve picked but now its out there I don't think it could've been better casting. Grey is absolutely brilliant when it comes to characters like this.

I have never made a comment on youtube an probably never will again. This made me tear up. I have followed Critical Role for years now and the love for the story, the setting and each other that the Crit Roll cast have for each other is amazing.

This is incredible. Who could ever have imagined this? I remember sitting in on a Geek and Sundry panel at SDCC in 2017 not knowing who Vox Machina were. And now we're here!?!? Love this, love Critical Role and the Critters. Bidet, all!

Something tells me if this was picked up by the big names, the show wouldn't have ended up like this, with a brilliant, ridiculously talented cast, a fucking incredible animation and such a care to deliver a great adaptation that they're proud of and that for sure will make us fall in love even more with vox machina.
Just throwing this out there: if Tennant is playing Krieg/Brimscythe (arguably the weakest of the Chroma Conclave) who is going to play Thordak when they get round to that? 😳

Wow. I was a KS backer, and of course I thought it was an awesome idea, A group of voice actors from video games and animation, who had a popular D&D stream, got to reverse engineer their creation and turn it into an animation. After seeing the amazing cast, I'm even more excited for this!

I'm sure Matt was elated to hear that he wouldn't be locked in a recording studio for a year, recording every single voice.
@Mier DeVries The burden of proof is on you since you brought it up. Once again, do you have any concrete proof he was pressured besides theories? Do you have any word from the actual team that they were pressured to change the voice actors because of race? If you do, please link them, articles, interviews, etc. I don't think you're the lone voice in identity politics, that's clearly an issue in other shows and such. However, in 'The Legend of Vox Machina' specifically, you are the only one I've seen. Both in this community and reviews.

No, because I lost interest and found other stuff to do. Listen, not everything is about race. Stop acting like it's fact Matt was pressured when no one has said anything of the sort. At best, it's a theory. And the only person I've seen making a fuss about the voice acting is you.

@Will Yumm Well we all know why he didn't do it, the internet would have crucified him. Even though Gilmore is the closest to a PC he has other than Allura. I mean, what are they going to do about Marisha playing Beau? Are people going to be weird about that?
You can tell in earlier videos that he really wanted to do it, but I'm sure that was yelled out of him by the hordes online.
Usually I agree with the sentiment behind why this happened, but normally that's because the casting calls for characters don't already have voices and we want everyone to get a fair shot and not have everything be whitewashed, which, again I 100% agree with.
Liam and Matt's chemistry is off the charts, it's such a shame that they have to pay for other peoples dickishness.
Still, I'm sure the guy they hired will do a great job.
@Maya English he really deserved to play Gilmore, but if he felt so strongly in not taking on the role I support him. For whatever reason, even if I disagree. In my opinion, Matt completely deserves to play the role of Gilmore. Its his favorite role because its probably the most close to his character, much like all of Vox Machina embodied their personalities in their characters. More-so than later seasons.

I love how they designed a lot of the NPCs to look like their voice actors! I mean, look at Uriel, Jarett and the Head Cleric, just to name a few

My kid was born a little after I started following and watching the channel and he's going nuts about wanting to kill dragons and hearing more of Matts stories! The emotion in Matt's eyes and face when he says it's not just his world anymore. As a fellow DM, just not quite as legendary as the great Mercer, I felt that! Here's to a fantastic series and that many more seasons may follow soon! And for the love of god, please make a Jester and Nott skit as an after credits thingy. Just a short one. I couldn't stop grinning at David Tennant as General Krieg, but Stephanie Beatriz as Lady Kima is the single standout casting choice in this whole video.
I heard Allura’s voice and knew it was perfect, like I’ve never watched game of thrones but the moment I heard her I knew it was perfect!

Lol, Idk if you guys remember, but Lady Kima actually had a personality rework. Thank god she did though, her first personality was kinda a bore. Her new(ish) personality fits Stephanie like a glove!

So excited for Sunil's Gilmore!!! Obviously the core cast was excited for everyone but, at least to me, everyone seemed especially impressed and happy with his performance as Gilmore. Can't wait!!!
Also excited to see David Tennant flip his role in the story as General Kreig. From what I've heard of him it'll be fun to watch the switch.
