I have terrible allergies. Soy being one of them. My throat will actually close up or make it nearly impossible to breathe. I’m glad you talked about it because a lot of people don’t know what to look for if they or someone else who’s having a reaction. I developed a lot of my allergies after I turned 18.

The TB skin test is called the Mantoux test. It is where a small amount PPD (purified protein derivative), or tuberculin is injected intradermally (usually in the arm). This produces a wheal (the so-called area of induration), in which the diameter is measured. 5mm-15mm is positive.

About 2 years ago I dyed my hair not knowing I was allergic. On the packet it says to wait 48 hours however my reaction happened 4 days after and was really severe my eye were glued shut my head was enormous and my throat the swollen, I would suggest to wait longer when you do a patch test because of my stupid mistake x

I have a deadly anaphylactic allergies to soy and nuts. Unfortunately the US government subsidized soybeans as a crop, so there is soy in a lot of things. I’ve had to go to the hospital for allergic reactions a couple of Times and thanks to amazing doctors like you I am still alive.

I know this is not the topic of this video, but in june I suffered a seizure and a fall, suffering a compound fracture of my left pinky toe, which the bone almost completely severed, dislocation of the toe next to the pink with deep lacerations from the pinky bone, and two vertebrae fractures t-11 & t-12. I wish I had a doctor that was as competent and compassionate as you seem to be. I also have severe shellfish, sulfa, and penicillin allergies so I found this video very interesting. Thank you for all of your videos!

I have a severe food allergy (peanuts) it will most likely never go away because my blood test numbers are way to high. It's so high I can't even get a skin test. While my everyday life isn't too chaotic. My allergy has disabled me from going over to other people houses, being able to have school food. And when I was younger I could never have any birthday treats at school. Unless I brought them or they were safe. I can't go over to other peoples houses because no parents know how to use my medication if I have an allergic reaction and their plates etc may not have been washed properly so I could get hurt from using cups, plates, and utensils....That arent my own. It makes me happy to see you (one of my favorite youtubers) talk about someone having an allergic reaction and also talking about how important they are. Oh and I want to be a nurse a lot once I'm older (ICU).
I also can't kiss anyone unless they take a lot of precaution so that stinks. (i can kiss my family of course)
also tip/// I wear a purse to carry my medicine!!!

Rather than the skin tb or ppd test I’ve recently been using a blood work assay of INF gamma for the TB antigens. I think the test is called quantifereon gold (at least here in the states) it is a lot more sensitive than the traditional two step skin ppd test for tb and only requires the one screening for accurate diagnosis according the the cdc of the US. It usually gets lumped in with my annual bloodwork.

A bug once bit me that triggered my body to have an allergy attack causing hives all throughout my body. Once i got to urgent care they said it was indeed an allergy attack but they didnt know *WHAT* triggered me to have it. I saw a bug flying around in my room minutes before i had my attack so im just assuming that bug bit me and triggered it. This was 2 years ago, still a mystery to what happened.

This is the first time I heard of somebody else with an actual allergy to dairy products! It sucks because nobody takes it seriously and thinks you’re just intolerant😅 and that has almost killed me more than once🤷🏻‍♀️. Thank god I’m an EMT and so are a lot of my friends.

  • Erin M
Erin M 2 bulan yang lalu

I’m lactose intolerant, which includes a sensitivity to eggs. I mention it even though it isn’t a serious allergy because every bit of information helps! It also lets the doctors know that my symptoms after having certain shots isn’t all that surprising 🙃 I also include that I take melatonin, even though it’s pretty infrequent, because meds can be *so* damn tricky with each other.
Tldr: tell your doctor everything and let *them* be the judge on the importance of it.

Hi Siobhan! I have a severe allergy, and I do understand that is super super important to carry about EpiPens. However, my financial situation kind of inhibits a regular upkeep on EpiPens - meaning most of my EpiPens are expired. I keep my non-expired ones in places that I spend a lot of time in/with - such as in my car or in my backpack.
My question is though: in a case of an emergency and I only have expired EpiPens, should I use them?
You briefly mentioned to NOT use them in this video. So I wonder if them being expired will worsen the emergency because of some sort of dangerous chemical produced in expiration? Or maybe just use them since (which I've reasoned with) maybe the expired ones means there's a little itty bitty amount that WILL help?
If anyone can answer, please let me know! (:
    Thank you so much!
