Do you ever get lost while working in the hospital? There’s so many rooms and doors and different levels of floors and seems like it’s gets confusing! :) Just wondering!

how do you go about vlogging at a hospital and telling us about patients situations without breaching doctor-patient confidentiality? I see you don't show the patient or share their names but im just curious! your vlogs are so interesting and they give a cool insight into life as a doctor/in a hospital :)

Removing the IV it was running through is way too much. You can KEEP the IV, just flush it and you're fine. Please don't do that again in the future as some patients are legit HARD sticks.

This is the first time I heard of somebody else with an actual allergy to dairy products! It sucks because nobody takes it seriously and thinks you’re just intolerant😅 and that has almost killed me more than once🤷🏻‍♀️. Thank god I’m an EMT and so are a lot of my friends.

  • Erin M
Erin M 14 hari yang lalu

I’m lactose intolerant, which includes a sensitivity to eggs. I mention it even though it isn’t a serious allergy because every bit of information helps! It also lets the doctors know that my symptoms after having certain shots isn’t all that surprising 🙃 I also include that I take melatonin, even though it’s pretty infrequent, because meds can be *so* damn tricky with each other.
Tldr: tell your doctor everything and let *them* be the judge on the importance of it.

Hi Siobhan! I have a severe allergy, and I do understand that is super super important to carry about EpiPens. However, my financial situation kind of inhibits a regular upkeep on EpiPens - meaning most of my EpiPens are expired. I keep my non-expired ones in places that I spend a lot of time in/with - such as in my car or in my backpack.
My question is though: in a case of an emergency and I only have expired EpiPens, should I use them?
You briefly mentioned to NOT use them in this video. So I wonder if them being expired will worsen the emergency because of some sort of dangerous chemical produced in expiration? Or maybe just use them since (which I've reasoned with) maybe the expired ones means there's a little itty bitty amount that WILL help?
If anyone can answer, please let me know! (:
    Thank you so much!

Wow, you want to go into rheumatology? That's AWESOME! There is SUCH a shortage, especially for those specializing in juvenile arthritis types. I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and psoriasis at 14 (along with bursitis, eczema, a heart murmur with feedback, and an unknown cause of random tachycardia), and it was SO hard to find a doc! I got amazingly lucky finding Dr. Knibbe (Boise, ID), but after moving, it was really hard to find a rheumatologist who didn't have a 100+ patient waiting list (yep, really). I was a difficult patient, not responding to any of the 'normal' meds, before finding remicade, to which I turned out to be highly allergic to (I got the same meds you just talked about :) )! Since then, I've been on a lot of different meds, but right now, I'm on xeljanz, and that is working pretty well. My fingers are still kind of swollen, but I can tie shoelaces now, and open most jars, so that's HUGE. At the age of 27, I can finally focus on having a semi normal life, although I can't travel everywhere I'd like... but xeljanz looks to be ok (not enough people studied yet to be relatively sure) for pregnancy, so my husband and I can start trying! What I'm trying to say is this; there just aren't enough rheumatologists to go around, and if I hadn't found one, I wouldn't be able to type right now, or really do anything with my hands at all. I couldn't have a baby, because there is just no way I'd be able to do anything to take care of him/her. I wouldn't be able to get out of bed in the morning with relatively low pain levels. I would be as tired as I was when I was 14, taking naps constantly, and unable to walk more than 50 feet at a time. So thank you for even considering the specialty, we need more!! :)

I always joke that I'm allergic to the summertime, since im allergic to wasps, pollen and grass (I don't think that's the same as pollen as it's when I actually touch the grass). None of them are dangerous, though I haven't been stung for years and when I was it was just a rash that developed. Still. It's a fun excuse to stay inside 😂

Allergic reaction. That was a close call. It could almost be an anaphylactic shock.
Never done a TB test before. But I've injected TB skin test to other people a lot.
TB is a very common disease where I am. I could be seeing 30 of them daily back when I was doing pulmonology rotation during clinical years.

Good luck from the UK! Xx
