Lol to all the shook people in the comments who have clearly never worked in service! The job isn't as easy as you think and these issues in the video are not uncommon!!
I personally don't serve dropped food or tamper with food, but if you think you can be a jerk to servers everywhere you go and never eat tampered food you're kidding yourself! At that point you're playing a numbers game.

I think the reason that people don’t bother to check if things have gluten or are vegan is because they’re very busy. I’m a server and I know it isn’t a good excuse, but that’s the only reason I could think of that someone might not check. I’ve taken customers food back if I noticed the food didn’t seem to suit their needs (allergies and stuff). Anyway, great video and relatable
Also, if someone has an allergic reaction, isn’t that bad for you to? I mean, if thinking about it selfishly can help save people, then go for it.

do NOT lie about something having gluten or another allergen!! celiac is very serious, it damages the body for months and creates very painful symptoms for days. at disney someone gave me gluten pasta instead of gluten free once and it was hell lol

I’m not a trendy hippie who is trying to loose weight. I have an actual allergy to gluten (celiac disease)I have a low weight and a growth stunt because of my disease. If I ask you if there’s flour in something, don’t expect me to know already because I don’t cook the food.

For everyone getting upset about the lying about knowing the ingredients thing, its mostly about people who dont specify their allergies. If a customer asks if something has a certain ingredient in it, i will guess for the most part because it will take a good five to ten minutes to verify 100% (you cant just ask the cook because half the time they have no idea whats in things either because everything is prepped). For example, if you say does the soup have onions in it, i’ll say no even though there might be some form of onion in it because they arent chunks of onion. However if someone were to say i have a sever onion allergy is the soup safe for me to eat, i will check with whoever i need to to make sure that its okay. Always let your server know there is an allergy and dont just ask about ingredients. Another tip dont say im gluten free (because a lot of people say that and still eat our complimentary bread), say i have celiac disease so i cant have any gluten.

About the gluten issue in the comments..If you’re going out to eat take it upon yourself to review the restaurant for gluten free foods their and even when you walk in ask the host for a gluten free menu. Often times the restaurant will have a separate menu that you can order off of. Asking the server in the middle of their dinner rush is the wrong way to go about it especially when they have 6 tables to cater to while also pre bussing, running their own tables food as well as helping their co workers get their food out, on top of refills, boxing leftovers, cashing tables out and dealing with anything that comes up in between all of that.

About giving bad service at 3.15m. The guy saying he was always right couldnt know. In germany you dont need to tipp. So if the service was not good I wont tipp. But if the person was nice I will. Doesnt take much. Just a smile. And the nicer the server the higher the tipp.
If he doesent serve well from the start he shouldnt expect anything else. Thats just for me.

“Shouldn’t you know if a potato has gluten in it?” What the heck honestly. All food is cooked differently, some with butter or bread or in the same friar as something with gluten. Many people have deadly allergies and that carelessness could kill someone.

3:03 is very important! I have Celiac Disease and sometimes it is hard to know if a certain food at a restaurant is gluten free or not. Example, some omelettes have gluten fillers in the egg to make it poofy and save money, but eggs by themselves do not contain gluten. You can't just know by looking at it, so it is important for us people with Celiac to be able to ask if there's hidden gluten in certain foods. Another example is what oil the food is fried in and what other products share the same fryer. I highly recommend that if you go into any kind of food business, you take like 10 minutes to study food allergies, and check to see if any of your dishes have hidden gluten. Your ignorance could be life or death in some cases.
