Be careful with allergies! I have a peanut allergy and it takes a while for the reaction. I remember I had ordered a dish that had peanut sprinkled on top and I asked to take it back. I think they took off the peanuts with a spoon and gave it back to me. On the way home, my face blew up like a chipmunk and my skin started falling off. The swollen part would go down in a day but the skin reaction takes days to subside. For three days I had skin falling off my face. Never went back to that restaurant again.

People(especially people who are allergic, like myself) ask if foods have gluten in them for the extra precaution. If I look at a meal and the small description of it, I'm not gonna know what else could be in it. Having Celiac Disease(being allergic to gluten) can range from being sensitive to getting EXTREMELY sick just by breathing it in. It can be hard to eat out with allergies because we don't know wether our servers or chefs know what can be harmful or not.
I personally don't get very sick from just breathing gluten in but sometimes when walking into Subway or just the bread section in a grocery store can make me feel "wrong'. Not sure how to explain since I don't get sick but it's definitely hard for me to be in there any longer then a minute. Again, personally, a little contanimation can go a long way. If I get little bits of contamination every day or every other day for almost a month, I can get sick for over 6 months to a year. I've stayed home from school for over months at a time but contanimation from people who don't understand what gluten is or how severe it can be. And that's just for me. How severe can vary from person to person so servers, chefs, etc., please be cautious when dealing with customers with any sort of allergy, whether you think they're lying or not. You never know and it could be very harmful for the person.
Please and thank you for understanding

The thing about the gluten is that restaurants and places can just sneak gluten into food without there needing to be any gluten in the dish. There are people with Celiac disease, non-celiac gluten intolerances, and other chronic illnesses where if someone eats gluten, they can become severely sick. If someone in one of these groups has gluten, whether it's because they're served it on purpose or on accident (or even through cross contamination), depending on their sensitivity to it, they could end up in the emergency room. There are even some people with celiac that cant even use makeup that has gluten in it without having a bad reaction.
I know one (1) person in the video covered this, but I don't think a lot of people understand why it's so important that we don't consume gluten. So many people assume it's a fad diet and that nobody has an intolerance to it or whatever, but that's not true at all, and that myth is downright dangerous for so many of us.

So the same servers complaining about an occasional bad tipper and not making 15/hr are the same ones serving food from the floor, spitting in food, and can't get food allergens correct that could legitimately cause someone pain or a trip to the hospital? This is exactly why idgaf about all these servers complaining online.

Sometimes with allergies you can just say “no it doesn’t have wheat” or whatever because if someone was an extreme allergic reaction to it like if they have celiac disease then they could get horrendously sick.
Edit: and giving people, who are allergic to it, wheat on purpose is not okay

My family went to a restaurant and the waiter didn't write down what we ordered.. My brother ordered a gluten-free pizza (Beacause he has celeacdeasis). On our way home, he got nauseous. We had to stop for a really long time and got home 1 or 2 hours later. The pizza hat gluten in it...
But hey, we got offered a full meal for free. The waiter probably got fired tho... Poor guy

I haven't ever eaten customer's food, even if it is a wrong order they didn't eat off of, because in my food handler class we were taught that they spread an infection from something like a cold sore, or have pathogens in saliva, or in the air if they are sick. So no, that's gross. I DO eat catering food my relatives bring home that has NOT been in the presence of guests, sure, because no one has been around it yet and it's extra from the cooler..

I agree with all the other stuff but the stuff with the certain things in it is dangerous. If the perosn has stomach ulcers, or siliac (i probably spelled that wrong) disease, you could potentially harm their life. People don't always know whats in certain dishes and its better to be safe than sorry.

    Spices
    Sauces
Additives!! We don’t know if the dishes you serve use spices that have gluten or if you make a special sauce for the dish that contains gluten!!
Heck even if you share a frier, oven, pot, or even grill with a gluten food!! Even if the food touches gluten it’s contaminated

Once a waiter messed up my order because he hated the people I was with. My parent's friends were taking me out to dinner one night, and it was just the three of us. Me, and my mom's friend with her husband. They are very nice, but this night, they just weren't... It was super odd, and I was incredibly uncomfortable. But I knew if I had wanted to leave, that would make them feel even worse. When the waiter came, unfortunate to the waiter, they took the anger out on him. And he fired back. Our orders were normal, but I have a shellfish allergy to scallops, oysters, and mussels. There was an order I really wanted, but it had scallops mixed in with the chicken that was in that dish. The couple I was with both ordered seafood dishes with scallops, so I knew I was gonna have fun at the table. The woman I was with spoke my order for me. And she spoke it rather rudely unfortunately. But she clearly said for no scallops. So, my food arrives, and sure enough, I start to feel the effects of a reaction. My reaction isn't extreme, its just vomiting when eaten, and an upset stomach from the smell. I powered through, as I assumed the upset stomach was from the smell of my hosts' food. Then I took a bite. In this dish, the scallops looked a lot like the chicken for some reason. So I unknowingly, ate a scallop. By body had a reaction very quickly. The manager thankfully noticed something was wrong, and we explained the situation. We also remembered that we forgot to mention that I didn't want the scallops due to an allergy. The manager found out what the server did, and the server told us that he thought I just hated scallops. But when he found out that I was actually allergic, his face went white! The couple that took me out apologized for being mean to the waiter, and we got our food free that night (after I got my correct order). But we did tip the waiter a bit to make up for my hosts' attitude.

I told a customer with celiac that there’s this other cafe that has a load of gluten free options but honestly our cooks didn’t know much about dietary restrictions and homegirl was big mad

The pffft about celiac disease really pissed me off! I have celiac and it is not something to lie or mess around with. The only reason people ask is because one potato may be gluten free but the next one is like poison and shuts your intestines down ( at least for me) it has a lot to do with seasonings, toppings, and where/how it was cooked. It also has to be cooked in a totally different pan, toaster,or oil.

I just stared at her in full disbelieve and just bluntly said "No, no ma'am. It's made of cows milk.' And then she looked really mad at me and said "How can you serve it then when you know not everyone can have it!" and I just like really I was just stunned at how this lady thought.
