yes and no, if you have the gear then yes and you may as well just to make sure you are getting every ounce of performance out of your amp and headphones, however, if you don't then don't bother us any improvements you think that you are hearting are just a placebo, I have a pair of Sennheiser HD600s connected to a 24 bit, 192KHZ amplifier and you can genuinely get more out of high bit rate files with gear like that, however low end hardware just can't get those details out as well

Been listening to 128kbit mp3s for two decades now and I am still happy with it :D (although it is mostly VBR now). A friend of mine spends thousands on audio equipment and only listens to CDs, no digital audio.

Ridiculous video...what do you lose in compression from lossless to mp3 ? You lose the dynamic range and if you are listening to something that doesnt have much range to begin with of course it seems the same....there is a huge difference when you listen to a dynamic track that is designed to test audio components. This is the equivalent of saying there is no difference between a monitor that is 60hz vs 144hz because you played a game with no fast motion...SMH. This is by far the worst video i have ever seen from LTT, was Linus out of town when this was made or something?.....he would have to know better than this BS.

Brilliantly explained Riley 😊😊 as an audiophile I like to listen to every nuance of the sound reproduction when I have my headphones in. Though I haven’t got a good enough source/amp/ headphones or speakers to do justice to uncompressed high bitrate audio. I use a Arcam Fmj CD player.& amp with acoustic energy AE109 speakers with black rhodium biamped speaker cable & sennheisser HD650 Headphones. But sometimes I just enjoy music on the go with my wheelchairs British made minirig audio system with Subwoofer

This would prob. describe how the difference feels to me. I had to use a cheap pair of headphones when my beats was in warranty repair, I still had spotify high quality turned on but it sounded like shit.

Oh damn, I'm seeing this late.
Tidal's audio is nice to listen too but their customer support is quite trashy, wouldn't recommend... so agreed, let's not contribute to that.
Spotify and its 320kbps should be good enough for your daily music sessions, specially if -like they said- you're mainly listening to accompany another activity: videogames, workouts, etc.
Or GooglePlay music and your custom audio libraries while it lives.
    Just don't go Tidal.

You can hear the difference between Tidal master and Spotify on a half decent car audio, even over Bluetooth. The high end and low end from Spotify are completely botched. Funnily enough, this has nothing to do with Bitrate but with terrible dynamic limit Spotify applies to get songs to approximately the same loudness.
In an ABX scenario I could definitely tell the difference, even on mediocre equipment. Maybe not on a phone speaker, maybe not on free airplane headphones, but on any half decent Bluetooth speaker or headphone

    • Chase Hunter

T4iga It’s amazing that lossless makes a difference on bluetooth. The extremes just sound a lot better, wider soundstage, it really amazed me how much of a difference it makes. But then again, we’re in the minority that actually enjoys listening for these bits

I've had this argument with several people. I like high end audio, thus have a full sound system for playing my audio back. But, without a dedicated digital feed, a receiver to decode the digital feed, and good speakers, you are wasting your time using FLAC or ALAC files. If you're going to go that route one day and can afford the storage then there's nothing wrong with creating Lossless audio files.

To each there own of course.

    • ricky v
      ricky v 6 bulan yang lalu +1

GTpcGaming Yup, there’s so much that goes into High Quality audio. Even understanding the bit rate and how that works.

    • GTpcGaming
GTpcGaming 6 bulan yang lalu +1

Importance of audio equipment goes along these lines: headphones, master track the file you are listening was made from, the file itself. Further than that is waste of money for the most part(as person who bought usb DAC that supports 98000Hz 24-bit audio)

  • MrGreenAKAguci00

That's a very reasonable take on that topic. As a sound guy I approve.

  • Marco King

This is less informative than I thought. It needs better examples to counter the bad example, more mention of other things like portable amps/dacs and IEMS. Also mentioning some game/movie music are not compressed than usual due to performers being paid beforehand while music artists get paid per release and they have to compress to sell more copies in multiple places. Also really? Mention those sennies when there are things that are cheaper and better than it which is end game, you still need something to drive the headphones to its fullest potential and you guys didn't mention any of it which is what helps audiophiles tell the difference. Also I'm no Audiophile, I just know a tiny fraction of Audiophiles know and it is much more than what I mentioned. I never heard of the dumb certificate thing, but god that really is dumb and you tried but come on the audio world isn't that hard when you have explained all of this before. Mention new stuff that helps your audience understand how to better their gear and more because you guys are always lacking when informing stuff about audio, but do a semi good job with networking which is primarily what I do and mostly masters at the gaming clickbaitery.
