Kids overall learn languages much easier at a younger age. I came here from Mexico at 10 and learned English in about a year or year and a half. Being placed in an English only speaking school and speaking mostly English at home, you just adapt much easier as a kid. That being said THEY ARE SO CUTE AND I WISH I COULD SPEAK KOREAN😭❤

This is great. About 30 years ago when we were kids, my cousins who were identical twins (one has since passed to childhood cancer) moved to Japan.. they ended up becoming magazine models. They were probably 2 or 3 and from what I remember it was a great experience for them. The respect that these boys will learn from this beautiful culture will bring them great things in this life

I love how their parents are very supportive of their kids apeearing on tv even tho some teachers reached their concern since they believe kids should concentrate on being students. As long as the kids are enjoying, why not let them? Just like their mom said, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the kids. As long as they are able to balance school and tv appearances, just support them. 💖

@rhea anon It is not the fact that they are foreigners, it was the reaction from the panel. Why did they have to be shocked? Why not just offer praise? Why? They don't believe western children can speak like Koreans - that is racist. Anyway, isn't that the point of the video anyway?

Eastern students taught to sit and listen, no questions ask? No, not all eastern students are taught the same way! depending on how the country is influenced. She can specifically say in Korea, students are taught to sit and listen, because koreans have different way of addressing people depending on your age, your position etc.

That’s one reason I really prefer western education systems, as an Asian. Asking questions is an important part, I can’t just listen and not know what the hells going on. Also I know it’s an Asian thing but, hierarchy systems of respect is honestly a very twisted way of raising children. They are taught to respect people older than them, but not younger or their own age- which is very important, cause everyone should get the same respect.

    • Jasper Andrew

•KemiEmi• it really is. I’m lucky to have studied I’m an international school in India where we had ppl from 30 countries. And so I got to learn different cultures appreciate all different kinds of ppl and enjoy the western ways of teaching tho yes, like you said it’s better but still has a way to go. In India since everybody is taught the same way it’s hard to stand up for ur rights and law, in a country where the innocent are punished and the criminals walk around free

    • •KemiEmi•
      •KemiEmi• 15 hari yang lalu +1

It’s always an awful cycle. Asian culture has so much oppression because of hierarchical social constructs. People older, wealthier, popular, or important are treated like modern day kings. All of these barriers are so stifling and take away from the main point of human interaction. Not only that, people on the higher social food chain develop shitty personalities because of the spoils of power and the elevation of status. The western education system has it’s own problems but at least it’s a much healthier environment for children. Though whether it’s the “best” for ethnic children not typically white or black is debatable but yes, again, it’d be worse if the opposite happened in an asian school. My point that I was trying to say tho is that having a voice is hard in Asian culture.

When I lived in Japan I taught a class on Saturdays for kids who had lived in English speaking countries. The parents wanted their kids to maintain their skills, hence the class. Most of the kids seemed to be slipping back into a Japanese accent but there was one 12 year girl who had lived in England and had the greatest accent ever. I'll never forget the time when I was trying to kill some time at the end of the class one time and said "Alright, let's play a game". And she said really loudly "On no! Not hangman again!" in this perfect English accent and intonation. Apparently the previous teacher played hangman every week. To this day I sometimes blurt out "Oh no not hangman again" witch a big British accent to amuse myself. There's just something really entertaining about kids who can speak a non native language with a great accent.

They are super cute and certainly not trying to be disparaging but it's not that amazing that they can speak Korean so fluently. It just isn't as common in Korea as let's say in the US when where there are so many other nationalities where many young foreigners can speak English fluently. I came to the US when I was 7 from Korea and speak English like a native. Children are like sponges up to a certain age and easily pick up languages. Still, they are adorable!

It's kinda sad that they think only in Korea they have respect for elders.. that doesn't mean senior citizens alone.. every younger child MUST show respect to anyone "older"... I'm not talking about a year or two but for example a 10 yr old has no business starting problems with a 15-20yr old and 15-20yr old should show respect to 30-40+ and so on...

I get being intrigued with other cultures and wanting an adventure in life, so I kind of get why they moved to another country. But I feel sad for their family (if they have any) or friends left behind. One of my best friends since high school moved away recently and I miss her. I can’t imagine how I’d feel though if my sister and niece moved far away. To never see your grandkids for example, that’d be tough. Assuming they have living grandparents/uncle/aunt and I guess assuming they didn’t move too. But yeah, that to me would be one of the most difficult aspects of moving really far away.
