Boba Fett Episode 4 BREAKDOWN BOBA IS BACK!

As he makes himself some food at campfire with his bantha, he sees lights overhead I the distance, and we get the Mando theme play for the first time. He travels over to find Fennec, this is a direct connection to mandalorian season 1 episode 45where Fennec dies and gets saved by the mysterious man walking. This man is Boba Fett.
Boba takes lifeless Fennec to the outskirts of mos espa to a mod shop where we have essentially a place for upgrades. The chop engineer fixes fennec up after boba pays and I guess this is Thundercat who you guys let me know of in the watch party. Fennec gets modded and when Boba says aren’t you going to cover it up? He’s says no because it would cover all that beautiful machinery. So obviously these modders are all about showing off their new parts, instead of concealing them like we know most cybernetics to be in Star Wars. Like Luke’s hand for example.
Fennec wakes up in the desert by camp fire with Boba and he tells her what happened to her and who he is. She figured him to be dead but clearly not. He tells her to take the Black Melon, this is a drink the tuskens showed him how to find and drink. It’s essentially like coconut milk, it hydrates and fills you with nutrients. The tuskens live off this stuff, among other variances of sustenance. He tells her how he was rescued by the Sand people, and blames himself for getting them killed by Nikto bikers. He blames himself because of when he jumped them at Tosche station, people there saw his clothing and weapons, and knew his gaffi stick belonged to Tuskens, taking him as one. So word probably got around with conjunction of the Pykes telling them that the Tuskens have also offered them safety, so the gang killed them. All except the warrior woman tusken.
Boba and Fennec decide to go retrieve Boba’s slave 1 ship, which he calls his fire spray which is the model of his ship, but not the name. I feel like Fennec wouldn’t know what the hell a slave 1 is even if he did call it by its name.
She sends in a drone, which reminds of me of the eye drone sent to spy of qui-gon jinn and Anakin in the phantom menace sent by Darth maul.
Boba mentions to Fennec that he was ready to leave bounty hunting behind. I guess this means he was tired of it and why he wants to become a crime lord now. He’s tired of working for scug holes.
Fennec retrieves her drone and it presents a map which reminds me of Jedi fallen order. Their plan is to sneak in. Now I want you to watch this scene again yourself, because not many will recognize, and if you did, maaaa Mann. Fennec takes the cutter to the bars, and the sound is the same sound when Anakin takes Dooku’s head in revenge of the Sith. Love how they added that in there. I feel like it’s a little nod to the grievous droid who loses his head with the same device. We see the droids making food and they think the noise of boba and Fennec is a rat, so they call the rat catcher droid. As Boba takes out the first droid, and the other turns into general grievous which was a nice little Easter egg. The rat hunting droid walks in and Boba ends up playing cat and mouse with it, eventually getting it, where we later see him in Boba’s palace, so clearly he took to the droid and kept him to keep the rats out.
Gonk droid can be seen just as Boba and Fennec lay eyes on Slave 1. They get ambushed by the guards and Boba gets in the ship. It’s in the same position as when Boba was firing the turrets on Obi wan Kenobi in episode 2 attack of the clones with obi wan was fighting jango Fett on Kamino. Loved seeing the console again since mandalorian. Fennec takes ou the guards in perfect assassin style while Boba maneuvers the ship around, destroying the walls until finally they escape.
We get the beautiful and infamous The Mandalorian theme. Meaning he’s now going to call upon the help of Mando Din Djarin and who knows who else. Probably Bossk and Dengar. His buddies.
I think the rest of the season is going to be a banger. I think Boba will go to Mandalore and get Din Djarin to join him. I hope he doesn’t just call him up, or get in touch with the guild. I hope we see live action mandalore and all the mandos join in, including Bo Katan. The thing is, if Mando joins Boba, then most likely everyone else will join too as he’s the leader of Mandalore. My question is, where is Grogu and Luke? Could we see them? I think from here Boba will create his own little suicide squad of baddies. I wanna see him Krrsantan, Fennec, bossk and dengar against Cad Bane the pykes and quira. I’d be cool with them putting Bossk on the opposing side, I think that would make it interesting for a fight between Krrsantan and Bossk.

I got chills at the end hearing Din Djarin’s theme. That’s how much of a mark he has left on the series as a whole.

When Boba said that he is sick of Bounty Hunters dieing due to their idiotic contractors, I think he had Jango on his mind
I think one of the lowkey badassed moments was that Boba crawled out of the Sarlacc and didn't really care that his skin was burning off. He just wanted his armour, body be damned.

@Jim Denson I'll accept the "delirium" excuse, even though he should have remembered burning his way out of the Sarlacc with his flamethrower. He also had a lizard in his head for an unknown amount of time. You know what they say about those acid tripping lizards; can't be too great for the long term memory. The writing is a bit lazy, though, when they're trying to be overly clever with homages and filling in plot holes. Feels like sometimes they are more preoccupied with easter eggs than actual substance. Hope that changes by the season's conclusion.

I think with everything else lately people are being too harsh with the start of this series. I'm loving it. Seeing development and what has happened.
@James Peterson hey man, I realise I was proven wrong in some way, the show has gotten significantly better. With help from the mandalorian and not boba fett. However, I am not a child just simply giving my opinion. Doesn’t make much sense to call me a child for not liking a show that Disney clearly watered down in the first 3 episodes. I have no problem with character development, when it’s done right, however the characters were simply bad. Boba fett is the greatest bounty Hunter the galaxy has ever seen, he fears no one, yet at the start of the series he was completely off and let’s be honest did fuck all. I loved the sequences with the Tuscan raiders, they were my favourite. Don’t call people children just for having an opinion, especially when the show you are calling people children for not liking, has been widely criticised by critics and fans alike. The best episodes of this series don’t even have boba fett in it, should tell you something about his acting lol, “like a bantha” wtf is that

I was absolutely astonished by this episode. Boba demoloshing the biker gang was so freaking cool, along with the seismic charge, but the best part was the Mando theme. I am so ready to see mando & the gang!!

An Easter egg that I can see in a mirror scene with slave 1 seismic charge . I was a fan of the B movie horror film franchise Tremors. The heroes got rid of the antagonistic species Subterranean graboids with bombs by baiting them to consume it before they blew up. Nice touch

I think the parallel of Jango and Zam to Boba and Fennec is interesting. The seemingly clear difference being loyalty. I think that difference is indicative of Boba’s new character arc with this show.

Pretty sure they never even called it 'Slave 1/One' in the movies. And in all honesty, it's not an ideal name for a toy, so I understand.
Definitely agree that it was SO satisfying watching Boba obliterate the speeder gang. That scene where Slave 1 comes into view behind the speeders made me laugh, and I kept laughing when he fired the blasters at them.
i absolutely loved this episode. his expressions while gunning down the bikers was a big highlight for me. the emotions were real

This is what I've been saying to people who've hated the show saying "this isn't the lone badass Boba we all know." Of course it isn't. He now knows you need a tribe, and to rule that tribe you need respect and loyalty, not fear. I love this change in character, shows growth.

@The Ghetto Ginger I was a bouncer at a bar in Miami. When violence occurred on our premises, customers clear out. It doesn’t matter if the situation is resolved. Customers get spooked and don’t want to be in that environment. If caring about a show, like you and I do, make us undesirable and socially shunned people…..so be it.

I've seen a lot of people defend the Firespray line by saying that she wouldn't know what Slave-1 is anyway. While I do agree with that to an extent, I feel like this could have been a moment for them to show Fett as the legend he is. They could have shown that all bounty hunters know of the Slave-1 ship. In that way, the idea of her not knowing the name seems a bit ridiculous.
But it’s just like how they say “get in the y-wing” or “get in the X-wing” or “tie-fighter” in the movies. They’re just saying the ship instead of the ship name and that makes sense. If you name ur car something irl, you don’t expect people to call it that name bc they won’t know the name, they’ll just call it “the Toyota” or “the Mazda” or “the Tesla” or whatever car it is.

Absolute treasure to Star Wars, when people like Temura show passion, the fans can feel it. Star Wars is slowly blooming into a new golden age.

I appreciated Boba addressing (inadvertently?) the "going soft" critiques in this episode. Fennec called him out on the Sand People making him soft and his answer of the power of the Tribe was cool.

hes also much older by this point. Hes not a hot headed youth. Hes a middle aged man thats survived on his wits, cunning, and brutality of his past. Age does soften a man to an extent, but also makes him wiser.

This show keeps getting better every episode. Im just waiting for Boba to ride rancor, i really think thats how hes gonna establish his presence. He said he wants to ride it and he was shunned for just walking around when the hutts are always paraded around

Really enjoyed this episode. All the sound easter eggs were much appreciated. I was confused why they'd use the sound of Anakin decapitating Dooku for the bars, but I loved the callback. I laughed hard when he used the Slave I to take out the biker gang without even trying to talk to them, I said "Now THAT'S Boba." I've really been liking the more detail and up close and personal we're getting from Jabba's Palace; although seemingly insignificant, I love that touch. Seismic charge sounds will never not be the greatest, even when muffled under sand😂 Thought the Sarlacc was already dead though, so I admit I was jump scared when it 'woke up'. And I freaked out when I heard The Mando theme at the end! Kept shouting at nobody, asking what it meant😂
Honestly, would be great to have a callback to clone wars Bounty Hunters. If Cad Bane is still alive, bring him, Embo, Bossk and Latts Razi and Sugi

They addressed the “boba gone soft” narrative which I didn’t expect. It’s almost as if Fennec is the voice of the fans throughout the series which gives me hope.

fun fact : the bass line that plays when boba is walking with fennec to the entrance of the mod shop is actually one of thundercat's bass lines!
Whenever she put the cutter to the metal bars, I heard that noise and immediately knew it was from the scene when Anakin kills Duku. That is so cool how I wasn't the only one who noticed that! Love the Channel Theory, keep up the good work!

I’m really thankful for the work you do brother, and I appreciate the way you break these down for us. It’s a shame to see so many people tearing apart this show- I know it’s not perfect but I love the complexity they’re building with Boba’s character and continuing to build out the wonderful world of Star Wars that we all know and love in a way that truly carries on the legacy

I think the pykes killed the Tuskens and blamed the Riders. Hence, Boba kills the riders and now the Pykes own the Dune Sea. Fennec even says its strange that the riders were able to take out the tuskens.

have not been a fan of the series thus far but I really liked this episode. it started off kind of meh but ended on a high note and Im excited for the next episode for the first time. I started to cheer when boba got his revenge

I don't understand why anybody thinks we might see Luke or Grogu again, they're off being jedi, they're not gonna be slumming it with crime lords and bounty hunters.
Flash ahead to next week's episode (1/26/22) and we see Mando having the Armorer melt down the beskar spear to make a chainmail vest for Grogu. So I think there's a good chance we will see Grogu and/or Luke this season!

@Noah Liasam ive heard it both ways so who knows. I guess it depends on if they keep the new trilogy canon. Everything is so back and forth right now as far as what the future holds and what will be canon. I hope they ditch the new trilogy as a force vision. Really just cheapen and kill all 3 movies lol. That would give them a good platform to build on. I dont think they will though. Im sure they'll keep them in play. As far as the weird bot bounty hunter being dengar, im pretty sure it was stated it was him but i may be wrong. I cant remember the name but it was an anagram of dengar.
the rat catcher being difficult to catch and scared reminded me of the droid in the blue shadow virus arc in clone wars! perfectly captures how annoying they can be and how they are controlled by fear

Din Djarin and a couple of other Mandos, the mods, the Tusken warrior, Fennec, the Gamoreans, the Aqualish and Klatooinians, maybe some returning bounty hunters like Dengar, Krrsantan, and Boba riding on the back of a rancor
I'm glad everyone is liking this. I guess I"m the odd one out. From all the legends books I've read, the Fett I enjoy is the one who is as cunning as Thrawn and as ruthless as Jango. He is usually ten steps ahead of everyone around him. In this series, I just don't see it. It's very slow, and repetitive. I want to enjoy it but just haven't so far.
My two cents. KK still had power when this was in production. As such she wanted to remove the name slave 1 which was easy to see as the lego set that was produced last was called boba fetts firespray. Jon knowing he would be able to use the name while getting the scripts approved likely decided to word that scene as a description instead of a name. If they make a season 2 i would think you will hear the name slave 1 again. Just my two cents..
I think the quote “there is an advantage to people thinking you’re dead”, was a hint at the mandolorians that are presumed dead by the galaxy. Maybe we see them aid him in his fight with the pikes?

Glad you enjoyed the new episode! I know some of the previous episodes have been controversial but I am really enjoying the progression of Boba. People have said they killed off the character. I don't think this series kills the character. I just see this as a new chapter in his life. One that does not involve targets and nothing else but death and destruction. He is trying to build something meaningful.
i dont know if its worth mentioning, but Boba also said "power hates a vacuum" in this episode, which is what Cobb Vanth said to mando when the mining collective took over mos pelgo. just thought it was a fun little nod

Also yes, I have a pretty good ear for sound effects, so I definitely caught that light saber squeal sound from Dooku's death.
It'd be great if the flashbacks take us to the point in "The Tragedy" when he gets his armour back but somehow interplays with Boba hiring the Mandalorian(s) as his muscle
Yeah, and the show doesn't do a good job showing this, but he was with the Tusken a really long time and was in the desert for at least 4 or 5 years.

Episode like this, with Easter eggs make me feel like I’m watching Star Wars. Especially with the lore they put in with the story
The only thing I didn’t like was he called Slave I the firespray. I know it technically makes sense but we all know why he didn’t call it the slave I. Jango Fett was a slave for a year and deserves to call it whatever he wants.
I’m loving the series. It’s weird seeing the Tuskan’s in a different light. And I never thought I’d think that bantha’s are kinda cute lol

Exactly. I wasn’t caught up on the comics.. but they knew what they were doing. They introduced him very well in ep2 and I’m ecstatic that we have such a bad ass group

I knew right away when we first saw him with the twins that he would become more important otherwise they would not have made that amazing costume. I even expect to see him on the Kenobi show. In the comics he got that scar over his eye from fighting Obiwan.
I think the quote “there is an advantage to people thinking you’re dead”, was a hint at the mandolorians that are presumed dead by the galaxy. Maybe we see them aid him in his fight with the pikes?

I’d love if Bossk or the other classic hunters had an appearance. Boba clearly needs more man power to fight the pykes. This episode was awesome besides the power ranger modder and the gang.
At first I didn’t like how he used black under he’s armor, but now I see and understand that the sand people made Boba as one of their own people. Respect.

I'm still getting used to it. I kind of wish they made Tem lose some more weight for the role because he clearly looks thicker than he did in ROTJ. We also unfortunately didnt get enough screen time of him in his original costumes from 1-3, wish we could get some earlier stories in live action.

I found it odd when he flew over the sarlacc pit…it looked like it was dead because it was empty…makes you wonder if it sensed his ship and hid away to draw them closer…

He was with the chef droid in the kitchen, and when 8D8 was the Droid that was serving as advisor and administrator of the Palace, I was really confused, because EV-9D9, if you remember, was the administrator under Jabba, and was the one that assigned R2-D2 to the Sailbarge while we see 8D8 in the background as his role of torturer. So when we didn't see EV-9D9, I was confused as this isn't something Dave Filoni would miss. This episode, however, explains why 8D8 got elevated to the position, because Boba destroyed EV-9D9 during the mission to get back Slave I from the Palace!
Also, I have a funny feeling that the Pike's are going to have Cad Bane... After their tussle in the Bad Batch show, it seems like both Fennec and Boba have a score to settle with Cad, and Dave Filoni is the type to have that come full circle here. I can see Bossk and Din join up with Boba only to have the Pike bring in Cad as a counter foil.

Btw for those who didnt know... The light that Boba sees in the distance is actually the flares that Mando shot to blind Fennec. The Bantha just traveled so slow that he didn't get there until she was dead.

@Edwin Navedo nope, he found out about the armor in Season 2 episode 1 when Mando kills the Krayt Dragon with the Sheriff. Gunsliger was Season 1 ep 5. We see Boba at the end of both episodes (though he was a mysterious guest in the Gunslinger)

Hope within me grows more and more that star wars is back! I really do think kenobi will be 🔥 mando season 3 a bigger tear jerker than season 2 finale even tho that finale hit me very very hard and it was something I haven't felt since probably the prequels and OT. If I see Han chewy and Leia that'll hit me hard

I felt that it’s was the episode that we have all been waiting for.
It also gave the best explanation for Fett’s reasoning and change of personality.
Yeah the cynical side of me say’s that Disney have a problem with a bad guy/anti hero and have to change them into good guys and in doing this show goofy tendency’s and weaknesses in there logic just look at “Loki, Ren, Fett” all fall into that category in one or more ways.
However with Fett simply chatting to Fennec at times over the show and saying stuff like you can only get so far without a tribe and also saying that he’s sick of being a hired gun it does change the character and shows a growth and the humanity within him growing as a result of spending time with the Tuscans.
It’s a simple bit of possibly mansplaining to the audience but I think it was needed. Also I gave depth to there partnership and you can see the bond between them and he’ll Boba is a changing guy.
Now I’m not going to lie I have felt that times Boba has been depicted as a bit clumsy and inept and that has been hard for fans as it’s seemed so off from what people expected I.e Boba “Bad Ass” Fett kicking ass throughout the galaxy. So this change has seemed out of character for most but I felt like this gave some clarification to this Fett.
I just wish we had more episodes to go. Ultimately i think it will kick on from now till the end and I can’t wait to see who he brings in to help him!!!!

Has anyone else noticed that the door to Jabba's palace opens downwards as opposed to in RoTJ where it opened upwards?
I think it's a different door. This one leads to like a hangar/garage area in the underbelly of the palace, while the one in ROTJ opens to an open hallway area that connects to the main throne room, since the droids and Luke both arrived directly in the main throne room after entering that doorway
Boba explaining his changed mindset - Check
Boba actually being kinda badass for once - Check
Boba actually doing something to legitimize his claim to Jabba's thone - Check
Boba acknowledging he doesn't actually have any family or manpower -check
Black K actually being brutal without it looking childish and silly - check
Actual violence with people actually getting hurt - check.
This episode was a huge step up and helped with a lot of the missing elements of the series so far. I still think Fennec is sorta doing everything for Boba in the action scenes and that kinda sucks.. He seems pretty incompetent at fighting considering he was one of the most feared bounty hunters just a few years back.
He is also old thats why Fennec does everything for him

Yeah this was my favourite episode for those reasons and more, but it's still a show that is on the line between good and bad. Thos one was good but it still had stuff I disliked, like the Mods and a few more demeaning Fett scenes. Him scurrying around unable to catch a droid, Shand being the one who has to suggest how they infiltrate the palace Shand being the one who figures out how to destroy the Sarlacc (that should have been Fett, as the ultimate payback), the fact that they skirt around using the name Slave-1. Aside from the killing of the biker gang, I feel like Fett has done a absolutely nothing to maintain or regain his ability to be feared by everyone who hears his name, or sees his armour. People should be scared of him from the first episode of this show, and literally no-one is.

I feel his scars could have been one of the reminders to him of what changed him after going through so much.
A few seconds of Mando’s theme is enough to have people bouncing off walls. We’ve waited so long. I hope they have a teaser for S3 in the post-credit of the last Boba episode.
