Going through the details and history of Logan Paul's sealed case of 1st Edition Base Set Pokemon cards and why I think there is a good chance it is resealed, repacked and/or fake. Game
If youre a Pokémon investor with 6 boxes would you really sell the case and remove all of your exposure or would you slowly sell off the boxes?
You should open your own verification service.
Right well said why not keep 2 or even 1 .
I'd be opening at least the case at the time of purchase. Opening one of the boxes would also add more credibility to the others.
LEGEND! People criticized and attacked him for giving his opinion on why he thought this box was fake and he was right. 😬
In a hobby filled with little kids and the guy who they are defending being one of the biggest kid content creators you should have expected the backlash from 13 yr olds lol. This guy def put in the research and did a great job regardless.
@ryan Campbell r u from stl

OMG YOU CALLED IT!! Nice job! I hope this helps your channel explode! Best wishes!
This aged well
we will not rest till this Jason and Micah are in prison for this scam.
Staged?
Fine wine
🤣😂😅
Sure did. ;)
This man deserves a medal for his detective work. He brought all this to light 2 weeks ago and people were doubting him. Much respect my dude ✊
When a IDclipsr can verify the authenticity of something just by looking at a picture of it better than a renowned card authentication business can who has it in there hands.. that’s a problem. Amazing work!
You're a legend. Great detective work. Thorough and objective reporting! Doing the LORD'S work!
I'm not even interested in Pokémon, but damn does Rattle deserve more subs than he currently has. Rattle is a common sense genius. Which in today's world isn't that common.
It's rare
Definitely a lot of sus in all of this. I'd trust a sagely old man in an old house selling that box before I trust an eBay seller on an item of that magnitude
Lolette
@edux91 rip
welp it was fake. 100%..box full of g.i joe cards.
Yea and if you see his latest video it looks even more sketchy!
Been watching through this and your other videos related to Logan's box. Amazing research! All the pictures and receipts, right there. Great job, Rattle!
Honestly 6 boxes of gi joe for 3.5 mil is a steal. Was a happy ending after all lol
The whole thing was faked from the beginning for likes/views/publicity.
@El Socio lol no it’s not worth anywhere what first edition Pokémon’s cards would have been. He was joking 🙃
It’s worth more?
This man deserves a medal for his detective work. He brought all this to light 2 weeks ago and people were doubting him. Much respect my dude ✊
I think most of us that saw the entire videos rattle made were pretty convinced it was fake because of his proof
The fact that he didn't want to meet and let the person open the case is the biggest red flag of them all.
@Xinnie the Pooh I agree with you on protections like meeting at a bank or something, but to the other point, people pretend they have lots of money to gain trust so they can rob them. It's quite common on these sites
@Shallow Dive if someone’s willing to spend millions with you I HIGHLY doubt they’re gonna rob you lmao. Either way there’s all types of protections you could put in place. If you’re spending that type of money it’s not like you’re just gonna meet in a random parking lot somewhere.
ppl get robbed and even killed
well could be safety reasons
Its funny how they act like "this is the first Pokémon item ever wrapped" is a good thing. Everything they said screamed "we've never seen a case. We have no idea what its supposed to look like. We have no idea what we are doing!"
This is my first time watching this #1 so I know what happens. This would be funny if it wasn't so effed up and tragic!
Easy sub, thank you for the content. Would be interesting to see it opened up and confirmed. If I were buying, I would rather pay a premium to have it opened up and authenticated by Leon, King Pokémon, Rev, or TCA tbh. Don’t think it would lose value if it were opened up and authenticated that way if it ended up being real.
Have you watched Logan’s video since he opened it? Lmao it’s full of gi joe cards 😂😂😂💀💀💀
Did you watch the follow up video? idclips.com/video/qWoVv8Ko1EA/video.html
Definitely has to be opened.
Although I am not into Pokémon and just wanted to see how Logan Paul got scammed. Even though I have not watched any of your other videos I can tell your an awesome content creator and the Pokémon community is lucky to have someone like you. You’re detective skills were on point. You’re so underrated! You’ve earned a sub from me and wish you the best with your channel!
Great work mate and well put together video . I am not an expert in this field but bearing in mind anyone with the means to buy this case in the first place must have some knowledge in the Pokemon field. How did so many people sell this on and even buy this in the first place given all the red flags which are jumping out at you. It's ridiculous, straight up fraud. Furthermore, how did a TC company verify this with their stamp of approval. If they actually did their job and looked into this like you have done they would clearly see how this a scam. How does an old cardboard box even = certified pokemon first edition content inside also? crazy.
Just watching this series, really good and detailed! Well done
Found your channel through this investigation. Not a collector myself but you rocked it with reasonable analysis and excellent follow-up sleuthing. Cheers on the vindication
That eBay listing was so sketchy; so many red flags. Good call that it was a fraud, well done!
I love these informative videos. It's wild that that baseball card company seemingly didn't try to track the box's origins at all? Like, maybe I'm an idiot, but I thought the big fuck-off ID numbers on the box were supposed to convey information.
this guy deserves more subs......he spoke up when no one else did.
Dude solved this scam at home doing research when these big shot authenticator's didn't have a clue what they were doing Kudos to Rattle Pokemon
Holy crap you were right. What does this say about all of these Pokemon "experts"?
BBCE lost all their credibility in a matter of seconds lmao
The company that did it was a joke he paid for that...the Pokebeach community couldve told him beforehand it was fake.
It’s incredible the amount of twists and turns there are and I have the advantage of finding all this out and knowing the results first. I have no idea how you pieced all this together while others were actively trying to scrub the info
I owned 3 original 1st ed boxes years ago. Never owned a case. I've also sold high-end cards previously on ebay. A few comments... we have seen restocking fees on ebay -- some sellers were still allowed to charge it, and other sellers have questioned ebay customer service how that happens. But, it's never a low-volume seller like that one. Also, while I agree that most sellers would prefer to have the cards picked up directly, there was actually a discussion on the community boards about whether that was wise. There was an incident where the person picked up, but without a third-party carrier to make the delivery, there was no proof the item was handed directly to the actual buyer. I think there may be a QR code now that can be scanned at the point of exchange, but I don't know for sure if that is in place and if it works. Just wanted to help with that info.
This then confirms eBay and any case would be in favour immediately
That’s why if your pick up always get buyer/seller to leave feedback
That was insightful, thank you. I haven't seen restocking ever.
This seller never wanted to sell on eBay. It was a 15 feedback account with psapikachu bidding against 1-3 feedback shill bids.
Fucking legend !!! This story will be told from generation to generations to come . Pokemon Legends of Rattle
Thanks for covering up the whole process, tracing it back to its origin, well done! It looks like a picturebook-story of how to turn something fishy into something "trustworthy"aka "authenticated". The original seller seems really sketchy...I'm sure that case is fake. Maybe we'll see a new boxfight next year: Logan Paul vs. number1pokemonmaster...
Should be very soon as there are just a couple things I want to check beforehand.
No problem and even more juicy details to come in the follow up video. ;)
I met the guy who sold this Pokemon first edition box to the guy who sold it to Logan Paul at the Collect-A-Con in Dallas. He sold a first edition Charizard to SashaT the sports card collector. The guy gave me bad vibes when I met him like something was just not right about him... I really hope Logan figures this all out! Btw I would reach out to SashaT he might be able to help bring more clarity to this seeing as he did business with them as well. Good luck!
If it was at an estate sale I'm pretty sure for tax purposes you have to list the items being sold and their estimated values... I doubt this box would've been laying under a table with a bunch of other Pokemon cards not to mention the family didn't open it to make sure it wasn't something important of his they might wanna keep? Nah I don't believe this at all I wanna see an obituary for the dead grandson and a listing for the estate sale itself.
Even though this story is fake, I know plenty of folks who have "estate sales" but they aren't really. It is just "buy my dead relative's stuff because I need to get rid of it"
people don't idc what they say I know plenty of people who run estate sales and don't report whet they are selling. it's too hard to track items from estate sales rarely they don't report unless it's a big operation and they are a buisness most people just sell and take a percatage and don't report just like at antique shows I do them every month I might sell 2 grand at a show but I don't report what I sell.
@Rattle Pokemon Interesting point, however If I died, I doubt that the executor of my estate is going to care or understand the value of collectible cards I have, beyond sports cards, which they likely will think of as being valuable from stories they heard of their parents having their Mickey Mantle cards thrown out when they went to college.
They most likely would list them as a lot or take them to a TCG shop to sell, UNLESS i have printed instructions/valuation information that lets them know they are valuable. Most people that aren't in the hobby have any idea about these things. Now, if I have gold, silver, sterling silverware, or old baseball cards, they would likely recognize those have some value that should be investigated.
My parents had a large lot of my revised/unlimited MTG cards put loose in a shoebox, and fortunately, they weren't damaged. I did not even know they were still at their house, until I picked up they hobby again after college.
Unless it's one of the other three origin stories.
Tells me that no one did any digging on verifying this box was legit but just purchased because they had the money to do so even if it meant losing. Good work dude!
Is it 100% fact that bbce did not open the case, see the boxes with their own eyes, then re-wrap the box as Authenticated? Thats what most people, including myself, I believe thought happened. But if they didn’t open it and just wrapped over the “stop” wrap, then yeah that doesn’t say a whole lot.
@Rattle Pokemon u were ryt
Not sure where that rumor started but no, they didn't open it at any point.
You had me 1000% convinced this was fake and sure enough it was. Well done for calling it. 👏
Amazing call on the box being fake. You'd think as rich as logan is he'd have someone with even a little experience either be in his ear or even try to track down previous sellers. Great Video!
Awesome work. 👌 Thank you for this clear example of how to deduce truth from hype. Thank you!
You changed the Pokémon world great advice and content 👌
You nailed this, even your follow-up videos are perfect
Baseball card exchange is the #1 authenticator of sealed boxes in the sports card world. I'm still with you on it likely being a repack scam, just giving context since you aren't familiar with them
Given the history of the buyer, how likely is it that the buyer is the scammer? Somehow repackages with GI Joe cards and the BBCE gets blame and someone pays up.
Who made money on this in the end? The buyer acted really weird in the unboxing vid. I need to know more of the chronology but I would never trust that buyer with anything. And 3.5M is a lot to anyone.
@1hp yea they fkxd up
dam so they #1 and still authenticated a fake case, sucks to see
Your a fucking hero !!! We need more people like you !!! Thank you for helping this world!!
The first red flag that I said before is that you will hardly find cases like that and being at that age. Nobody would had kept something that long in a warehouse
Coffee Zilla would be proud.... love your vids man this has to take a lot of work digging up the seedy underworld of Pokémon...but someone has to do it.... but I thought the opened it and authenticated the box the wrapped it..... so technically not sealed sealed.... but basically like VGA “qualified” where it was sealed but they opted it to authenticate it.....
They didn't open it. Just judged from the outside and probably weighed it.
I feel bad, out there is some poor kid thinking he got 6 G.I. Joe boxes but they had pokemon cards inside :(
Now I get why someone asked how I got my Aquapolis pack when I sold it.
I see the importance of the chain now.
Hear you earned yourself a case of prime from this one 😆 good stuff man
Props to you for finding all of this! 👏
Those eBay terms and conditions actually do apply. One time I sold a computer and the customer said it was broken and filed a case on me. In the case she said she had gone to a repair shop and had the computer opened and looked at. Even though the computer most likely got damaged during shipping eBay did not give my buyer a refund because the item would be returned in a condition it was not sent in.
Another great insight into the shambles of what Pokemon has to offer 😂🙈 interesting though! Want to find out if Logan rips it now 👀
@Rattle Pokemon G.I. JOE
@Rattle Pokemon g.i joe lol
@Rattle Pokemon me too! I’m Edgar to know!! I’m on the fence, could be either 🤷🏻♂️
Would love to know what is in there.
I sure hope he didn’t grab the case from silly ol’ collectibles guru 😆 but seriously, I’m not sure this box you’re displaying is the same that Logan bought but as a buyer I would want a personal deal done. It avoids fees, get a hands on deal with what you’re getting and I would immediately open the sealed case to ensure that all is legit inside. Screw the case in my opinion, I can easily replace that. The boxes however, the legitimacy matters more and I would be extremely aware of this entire situation because it involves BIG money. This is a huge transaction and it’s to be treated in a professional manner.
@SilverFromJohto Pokémon it’ll be a huge pokemon community mystery for sure, but it’s definitely 70/30 on being fake
@Nonny I doubt they’ll ever be able to authenticate this.
How can you authenticate something nobody on this planet has never seen, we were barely babies, this seems like something maybe an old WOC member can answer but we haven’t heard anything on their end if it’s legitimate or not
It's the same box. Can be traced all the way back and has identical blemishes.
This video is great for any eBay transaction in general. I will tell you, in order to avoid any issues with sellers trying to scam, ALWAYS video record your package openings. It has saved me several times from sellers trying to claim they can't have an item returned or refunded.
@Rattle Pokemon im not sure about that ive won a dispute from ebay about a month ago and attached videos and pictures to prove that the airpods i got from eBay were fake. and i got my money back.
EDIT: also if that were true why would they even include a upload/attach files function on eBay disputes?
eBay won't watch or use a recorded packing or opening in a dispute.
In all honesty this couldn't have happened to a better person, Logan wasn't going to be losing money on this regardless of what was going to happen because the money exchanged for this was all probably out of his IDclips budget and the attention he's got from it along with the views has most likely already made up for it.
Imagine if this happened to someone who was actually risking something on it instead? Imagine if it got sold off another 2 or 3 times and then got to someone who actually needed the money from it only to get a big egg in their face. Sometimes good things happen in the weirdest ways.
On a separate note, to anyone wondering Logan has already gotten his money back from the direct seller so not only did he make money back from this he also made money on the whole experience as well, the man stays winning and honestly good for him.
He actually lost 700k but yes he’ll soon earn 700k back just small tax charge to him lol
Yeah Logan had no risk in this deal because of his relationship with his seller and his overall savy. Unfortunately for his friend, he’s currently the one out 2.7 million and even though we know he bought it from the card show guys, it’s no guarantee they still have all his money to refund him. They also got scammed into buying a worthless box. So this definitely isn’t a victimless crime and this needs to be handled properly. The original seller if they can track him it down deserves to go to jail for this.
If you are a top rated seller & accept returns you can choose to give a partial refund (or in theory charge a restocking fee) however, you can’t do that with a 15 feedback account
Interesting situation all around ! Thank you for doing more research into this !
Thanks for watching!
I just realized the amount of damage this can do to the hobby.
Because this is basically seen everywhere just prompting more scammers.
You sir, are a genius. Props on calling it
If youre a Pokémon investor with 6 boxes would you really sell the case and remove all of your exposure or would you slowly sell off the boxes?
Idk who this guy is but he nailed every single thing 100% beforehand. Only thing he didnt basically predict was the fact they'd be GI Joe cards lol
LOL STRAIGHT UP!! POKEMON DETECTIVE. 😭
In the history of the world! This is crazy... interesting to see how this turns out. I'm sure if it is fake Logan will make 5m on the stream so it won't really matter.
@Xinnie the Pooh I mean he's not the one getting screwed, he got his 3M refunded plus millions of views over this. He came out with more money lol. I feel for the others who bought from the scammed though, it'll be difficult to get back...
@Ann l it’s couldnt have happened to a better person 😂😂💀💀 when he yelled “GI JOE!!!!!” I fucking lost it lmao
@Ann l GI Joe!
They turned out to be fakes🤯😱 They made a video opening it. So sad. Fked up.
@Rattle Pokemon yeah I don’t think he’d purposefully scam anyone. But the grand opening or however they decide to crack it will probably offset any loss incurred from ad, NfT, etc revenue 😂
Whelp I will concur that my old case tag did fade and that my stop tape does look different then Paul’s tho mines isn’t as old obviously I do see the difference and I would like to look at Paul’s up close to confirm if it is indeed smudged which really would be impossible lol and measure the distance from stop to the signs..god I hope he didn’t just blow 3 mill
@nobrandonsclub you got your wish lmao. But he’s gonna get that back
U were right!!!! Props to you for finding all of this! 👏
Has anyone considered that this box could be one of those infamous changed 1st ed packaging -- the ones with the black triangle 🔺️ over-stamp? If this was one of the factories that still had 1st ed artwork on boxes and/or packs, and needed to alter it when changing over to unlimited, they may have labeled the box differently. Of course, the cards, themselves, would not be 1st eds then, but at least those black triangle packs are so rare.
Then, there's the unlikely but possible situation that given there were multiple factories, no one knows if the other factory may have labeled their boxes slightly differently. I used to write articles about pokemon back then, and WotC told me there were multiple factories to handle the volume, and that artwork on everything from packs and boxes to the actual cards was not always in sync, and that changes made at one place were not always implemented simultaneously elsewhere.
Of course, it could just be unlimited or a total scam, but people didn't believe there were real prototype cards until recently when a former WotC employee confirmed it.
@TapRackBangg- yes, but all possibilities must be considered. Until proven, it's all circumstantial, and that can put the wrong person in jail -- you would not want to be convicted on that. I was commenting only about the box since I have some info about that. As to the rest of the evidence...it was indeed extremely incriminating.
Note that RP didn't want to say anything absolute bc there was still the possibility that there could be another logical explanation.
Total scam
PLOT TWIST! Rattle sold the box on eBay and he is the real mastermind! Only makes sense why he’s so informed.
That would have saved me a lot of time and effort.
He needs to take them out and get each box re-authenticated then seal it back up in a new case
Doesn't look like that's going to happen.
G.I. Rattle righteously servicing the community! I salute you sir!
LEGEND! People criticized and attacked him for giving his opinion on why he thought this box was fake and he was right. 😬
Where do you see a single comment attacking him?
So easy to pass when the seller can’t even write a description without butchering grammar and spelling. You can kinda tell what kind of person wrote this based on how the words are arranged.
You did a better job of authenticating an item you saw in a video, than the expert authenticator did while actually holding it in their hands.
Not interested at all in Pokemon cards, the market or Logan somehow. But noticed a news item in the Netherlands that stated that Logan purchased a probably faked package for 3.5M dollar and there was a link to your YT-channel. I can say that I should be doing some work, but I love these kind of investigations! Watched it completely with full interested on how you proceed this and what steps you take. It's crazy how anyone actually believes it is real. Keep up the good work! Probably not going to give a sub, as the other content doesnt interest me. But I'll be watching the rest of these episodes for sure!
Isn't there technology to look into the package? Like Xray, Spectroscopy etc. that could help? It's probably as cheap as everything else surrounding this thing so those could be enough to discover the dirty laundry in there.😂
If it's repacked like I expect that might not help.
Congrats bro you were right!! The cards were fake 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Logan lost 3.5 million dollars and I hope the wrong do-ers get their asses in alot of trouble!!
Your observation was just proven correct l, it’s insane! Makes it hard to trust anything within the Pokémon sellers community now :(
Awesome stuff man. I really want Logan to open it now.
Would be nice to find out what's in there.
Some very good detective work and worth every view. 👏 👏 👏
Thank you kindly
Great video! Thanks for bringing this to light!
My pleasure!
Holy crap you were right. What does this say about all of these Pokemon "experts"?
Good call! Your channel deserves to blow up after this!
At 7:24 it looks like some of the ink on the table got on to the label. Maybe the seller was trying to make it look older than it is? Or was very careless?
Spot on dude, a theory (not mine) on how they were able to make the box, stickers, and tape look aged the same is lightly mist entire box with water. Then put it in a food dehydrator for a day or something, that's why the plastic wrapping on the actual pokemon boxes was bubbled and color on the Pokemon box faded.
@Mike Balla Jr Yep, same here(in regards to not being involved with trading cards). You have to love algorithm.
Oh yeah, I saw that guy's theory too, Callum upton.
His video sorta started me down this rabbit hole.
(What likely got one of these videos on my recommendations, since I'm not a trading card guy in any form.)
Wow, just the length of that estate sale story is enough to make me think it's a scam.
The number 1 red flag is the estate sale - it was her grandson’s box? What child has a sealed case of Pokémon cards? Also people say it’s their grandpas or grandmas item they passed. We’re having an estate sale. Not the grandchild lol.
But my dad got me into collecting. He kept sealed boxes - I obviously did not. I was the only kid who even put their sports and Pokémon’s cards in sleeves and toploaders and didn’t play with them. I didn’t have the strength to keep a sealed pack much less a sealed box.
Although I did recently sell some sealed packs of first edition Japanese yugioh cards - never knew what they were. Couldn’t read Japanese. No point in opening them
Bro as i said, NOBODY makes content like you do. Your shit is FIRE!!! Im literally going to drop your name everywhere brother. I LOVE how you go deeeeep into scenarios. Keep doing the THING!!!
Thanks so much!
Right on man.... Everyone we need to get this guy to 5 million subscribers
Amazing work your work is appreciated!!
Thank you!
Maybe if he had hired rattle to authenticate his cards instead.. He would still have his money.
Can't believe you called it! You sir are a wizard.
Remember back in school when you didn't do your homework so you came up with a hugely detailed, ridiculous story to make it seem real? That's what the seller's first story seems like 😅
@Rattle Pokemon saw the second vid. Great work. You should make a TikTok, so many people using your work to go viral atm.
The additional unnecessary details are something else. Lol
Plot twist: The GI Joe packs are actually re-sealed and do truly contain the 1st edition Pokémon cards!
3.5 million for a bunch of GI Joe cards is insane.
In hind sight. After watching mellypops video about the purchase and seeing how Jacob sound when selling something it sounds very similar to the type of verbiage the original sellers eBay listing used.
Makes zero sense why you wouldn’t go to a reputable auction service and get the full value minus fees…. Plus they’d Authenticate it. I saw leonhart authenticate his booster box by having it opened… why would it lose value if its opened to confirm the contents.
Better than a sealed but extremely questionable case imo.
The fact that they hinted that they know how rare a booster box is (which hints that they know the true value of a base set 1st ed) and still accepted the $72k bid says something
@DJMPTV i know, they mentioned this in the video
@TheWoolyWolf they canceled the ebay sale
@Rattle Pokemon exactly what i was pointing out. They clearly know this item is worth way more than 72k but took whatever money they could which in this case in the auction at 72k which shows they were trying to sell off this fake thing at whatever price they could and dip because if it was actually a legitimate box, 72k wouldn’t even be considered.
It was an auction and they wouldn't have sold for that highest 72k bid.
The sound of your voice is so soothing. It’s a great compliment to the inherent rage upon discovery of fraud . I hope u make a million dollars on this video
For this amount of money id fly to the guy who's selling it and say if its ok I'll pay you as soon as its verified authentic upon opening it
After all of this, Logan might pull a scummy move and keep it sealed and try to sell it for more then what he paid saying it's 100% legit.
Glad he opened it and exposed it!
@Alexanders VeryOwn this video by rattle Pokémon disproves your theory that this might be a publicity stunt. Logan doesn’t live in Canada.
@msftvsn yeah, just finished watching the video.
Idk, all this might be a publicity stunt. He probably didn't even spend $3.5M.
Who knows🤷♂️
No one should have trusted it to begin with, without it being opened.
Correction: You can actually charge restocking fee’s on eBay.
If you’re a shop seller etc he had 15 feedback
Oh you know what sucks to is that Logan did that first Ed give away on Christmas. He probably only did that because he factored that he had a case of them but he may of not opened one if he didn’t have that case.
Maybe but surely Whatnot flipped the bill on that one.
Pokemon and Magic the Gathering TCG's, bringing out the most toxic, greed driven behavior, for over 30 years.
Im coming back to this video today for a long car ride. Dont they make like fine óptic wires as small as a needle with cameras they could poke the smallest hole and actually get eyes inside, withought breaking any kind of seals for situation like this when theres doubt of the content of a sealed Item? Just a thought.
maybe that's why there were half-ass fake boxes inside
Great video. I love internet detectives!!
In Rattle We Trust!!!
