A truly unfortunate loss for the Rossoneri. Deserved a win. Spezia's keeper was immense. Shows you how important it is to finish your chances clinically. Some players from AC Milan looked a little lethargic for sure.

André Silva, Cristiano Ronaldo, Diogo Jota, Pedro Gonçalves, Bernardo Silva, Pedro Neto, Rafa Silva, Gonçalo Guedes... all of this 8 players (strikers or wingers) are better than Rafael Leao and not all of them can be called at the same time, it´s really hard to get called for Portugal national team, every position is very very strong

As a referee here are my thoughts. I think Marco Serra’s recognition of the tactical fouls was correct, his decisions to play on when some people claimed fouls were correct based on what was shown.
Regarding the penalty, he was ultimately right to award it. I would not blame him for needing to use the VAR to see it; that’s what it’s there for. When it happens in real time at speed, it could look like a 50/50 challenge or even a foul going out. The VAR check made clear that the Spezia goalkeeper initiated the foul by being the first to raise his boot. There was no infringement of Law 14 at the taking of the penalty, so a goal kick was the correct restart after the penalty was missed.
The failure to play advantage when it mattered most is devastating. Marco himself is surely going to reflect on this over and over again and watch the game film many times. It’s the only way to learn from the mistake and turn this mistake into a learning opportunity. The key lesson: WAIT AND SEE!

Hard not to feel like Milan were robbed, if we went 2-1 up it probably would’ve been dead and buried, but alas, if you don’t take your chances these are the risks you run. Congrats to Spezia for staying in to the very end, impressive performance from the keeper too.
And I thought Juventus getting beat in the 121st minute was a stinger, but this might have just cost AC Milan the title.

He never needed to apologise and by doing so he admitted guilt. Advantage play is and will not be out of the players to decide. The moment he whistle everything stops and he had a clear reason to give a foul in a dangerous position. The ref was overall bad because he didn’t give too many clear fouls on both teams but not on that moment.
@Boris Tsankov usually the referee will punish the player that gets the ball first for dangerous high studs. I disagree in penalising the quicker player winning the ball if both players attempt the same thing
If Milan deserved victory they would score 3 or 4 goals and decided the winner early. The ref made a mistake, but he for sure not helping Spezia in this match. Milan's goal was also ref mistake for me because he didn't gave foul on Manaj comitted by Krunic

@revyrain Watch again, the whistle happens right before Messias kicks the ball. There is no time for Spezia players to change their movement. The ref sees the advantage and then blows so he knew the loose pass leads to an advantage. he sees it happen and then blows. Watch again. But i agree the goal cannot stand because the rule is when the whistle blows play must stop.
I think there is another perspective to see from this. The problem is that whistle was already blown right at the time of the foul. Ref didn't know that the loose pass could lead to an advantage for Milan, so he blew it fast at that time. And despite all players (including Spezia) already heard the whistle, the kick by Messias still happened. I think the Ref sees this as unfair if the goal stands because Spezia players already heard the whistle.
