  • A presentation by Dr. Alan Goldhamer.
We are currently experiencing an epidemic of obesity and the diseases associated with dietary excess, including high blood pressure, diabetes, and autoimmune disease. This talk will review the cause and the cure for this epidemic and provide practical advice that actually works, including an overview of the use of fasting and the importance of eating a diet that is derived exclusively from plant-based foods, free of added oil, sugar, and salt.
Dr. Alan Goldhamer has been the director of the TrueNorth Health Center for over 30 years. TrueNorth Health Center is an integrative medical facility in Santa Rosa, California, with a staff of 50, including doctors of medicine, osteopathy, naturopathy, chiropractic, acupuncture, and psychology. Its 59 bed in-patient facility specializes in medically supervised fasting and has supervised the care of over 15,000 patients. The affiliated TrueNorth Health Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation involved in public education and clinical research.

My dad died at 57 last Feb from lifestyle excess diseases. We know about fasting and have done some, even up to 40 days, but if I had known about your facility back then I would have paid to send him. Hard to fast when you're surrounded by bacon, gravy and barbecue.

This question applies to people who have completed a long term fast. Can water fasting cure osteoarthritis? If you fast for long enough? 40 days etc. Or does it just alleviate the symptoms due to removing the inflammatory response?

Coming from a culture of red wine heavy drinking, I am fed up of all the talk about how good red wine really is.

Can a water fast also be done sort of with tea? A tea fast? Like hibiscus tea has a lot of antioxidants. Or does pure water do something?

Aya thank you for that that makes a lot of sense! antioxidants and other benefits of tea can keep you out of ketosis so just water then. On a fast.

The digestive system has to be in complete rest. Tea can raise metabolisms, insuline response, and knock you out of ketosis. Just water. I've done 14 days.

The trick is to have no carb, proteins or fats. Lemon juice or herbal tea is fine, not black tea though.

This Dr. Goldhamer is really amazing. Great science, well presented, well documented, and full of common sense. It's hard to refute the contents of this man's lecture. Nor would you want to- it provides an easy, inexpensive, side effect free way of preventing and even reversing the things that kill us. Great great great stuff.

I respect Dr. Alan Goldhamer as a science-based physician and read "The Pleasure Trap", but now i'm more than a little confused having heard from him that practices like homeopathy have credibility.

A placebo can be more powerful than the real thing.

+Cory Carson I agree. But it costs money to do the studies you speak of. Who exactly will benefit financially to do these studies? I'm not trying to be a conspiracy theorist here, just realistic. My point is there is a significant difference between looking for evidence and writing something off to the point it is not even given consideration. Just because it does not fit with the current collective paradigm does not mean it is bunk or it is purely the placebo effect as you put it. Do you have evidence indicating it is the placebo effect? There are not even studies I could find easily on pubmed regarding fasting and diseases like cancer. That is quite silly really.

    • reasondeep
reasondeep 2 tahun yang lalu +1

+Cory Carson Furthermore, do you really *know* what the placebo effect is? Does anyone? Does anyone possibly understand the interaction of how conscious intention actually influences biology? We throw around the term placebo effect without even realizing we don't even understand how the placebo effect actually works.

    • reasondeep
reasondeep 2 tahun yang lalu +2

+Cory Carson No, because the placebo wouldn't exist without the homeopathy in this context. Not in the proper way for the people who found help with homoeopathy. The placebo effect did not work for any other form of treatment, but homeopathy did, and therefore the placebo effect came from it. All you need is a few cases of people with some form of illness that was incurable by modern medicine and was fixed or cured by homeopathy to stand back and objectively realize we may not know all there is to know. I'm not sure why people have a religious like rebellion to alternative treatments. In my opinion it is better to stand back and continue to observe rather than form premature judgments.

    • W.J. Kelly
W.J. Kelly 2 tahun yang lalu

+Cory Carson Homeopathy, or anything else for that matter, works if you believe it will. The placebo effect. Doctors used to say that the most common prescription they wrote was for lipragus, a pallindrome for sugarpil. The placebo effect is real, and belief in homeopathy equates to a real healing in a significant percentage of patients. Homeopathy is ridiculous, but it works quite often.
