Even if all the life force is destroyed when it reaches the stomach, it still doesn't make it okay to kill the life force before putting it in your mouth. Not by any stretch. By that logic you could go on to promote long shelf life foods.

If you are already fat it was not from eating too much fruit, vegetables & rice was it? It was from eating too much animal products and oils/fats. The fat you eat is the the fat you wear. Losing weight on the paleo diet is from poisoning your body.

1.You're a shill 2.You're obvious. 3.Is that the best you have? The tired, illogical, ridiculous, completely disproved "fruit makes you fat and gives you diabetes routine". There are 0 low fat raw vegans who are overweight and the diet does not cause type 2 diabetes, is cures it and you know it.

i don't think fully raw kristina is a good example because she is a long distance runner and runs high mileage every day. i mean, she's running like 10 miles a day - things like that. anybody, even if eating meat, will look like her if you're running 50+ miles a week. elite marathon runners look like her. the majority are not vegetarian. she looks like that because of the extreme exercising she does, not necessarily because of her diet.

I understand what you mean by raw foodists looking older. However, raw Kristina was underweight before starting a raw vegan diet, it enabled her to gain weight and become healthy. I have noticed that after a long period of being on raw vegan diets, the dieter's skin looks brighter and healthier. The ageing on the outside may be due to weight loss or exercising out in the sun... Even genetics. Although I personally prefer to eat healthy in a not so extreme way. Raw vegan is still awesome.

This is her husband, I can tell you how happy/healthy she is. She was in the hospital every change of season because of being born and living in an urban environment with contaminated air. When I met her, her mom wouldn't let her do sports because of a perceived frailty. Now that she is an adult with no one on her back, she chooses to do work every day to improve herself, she doesn't go to the hospital any more.

look at freelee on youtube. I think her body is perfect. barely fat on her at all, but toned overall. kristina can tend to look 'too thin' but that's due to her excessive training like I said earlier.
If raw food makes everyone too thin, then why are there plenty of cases of underweight people gaining healthy weight when on this diet?

She also has an African body which is a completely different build and set of genes from girls like Kristina. If kristina spent time working on her muscles, I'm sure she could bulk up, but obviously she chooses cardio over that.

watch Raw Foods:The Truth on youtube. The lady there will explain with scientific studies how enzymes are beneficial in raw foods and are not necessarily "dead" when they hit the stomach. they actually do their work for 45 minutes before, and they become deactivated, not dead, until they reach the intestines.

That's like a handful examples out of how many plants? That's not the best argument in the world. It still destroys vitamins. And making food more readily available for digestion, can also be done by a juicer or blender. Make green smoothies and forget cooking.
Look at "aura pictures" before and after cooking, there is("obviously") something to this thesis that life dies when it's cooked. And plants are weak when they're not organic.

I do most of my eating in the office and it is difficult for me to eat a high volume of vegetables. I do cook sprouted seeds, nuts, legumes, grains like buckwheat and quinoa. I also do some fresh fruits and convenient dried fruits altho dried fruits are loaded with calories. I also eat lots of cooked mushrooms to lower my blood sugar and for vitamin d. I do not have type 1 diabetes so low fat vegan or raw is attractive to me who is more used to high carb asian diets like okinawa islander diet.

Cooking doesn't always take away nutrients, depends on the type of cooking, the nutrient, and the food in question. For example boiling or steaming carrots increases antioxidant availability.

It is rumored that the #1 reason why people fail on a low fat raw vegan diet is because they do not consume enough calories. People tend to eat more calories when eating energy dense foods. Fruits and especially vegetables have a lower amount of calories per given volume than other foods. Many people end up eating the same volume of food before the LFRV diet but many fewer calories. Refusing to take B12 supplements is a foolish risk, but iron can be found abundantly in many raw vegetables.

For more protein, still prefer to cook sprouted nuts, seeds, legumes, buckwheat, quinoa bec of habit and maybe it is more digestible cooked and maybe less toxins. Many vegans don't take vit b12 supplements & prefer to take the more dangerous route of b12 tests for deficiency and sometimes b12 tests can come a bit too late. Anecdotes of failed raw vegans on the internet could be bec of b12 deficiency or iron deficiency (females). Another explanation could be since many generations of ancestors ate cooked carb & animal food, the switches on current genes of some are not able to adapt to a vegetarian, vegan, raw diet, high fat eskimo diet or ketogenic diet.

  • vshvideo
vshvideo  5 tahun yang lalu +2

I agree it would interesting to see some more studies on this topic, especially to determine what levels of B12 exist in natural never farmed soil, and what plants may absorb it. Until then, I'll keep taking my B12 supplements.

In general you lose nutrients in cooking, but not always.
For example boiling or steaming increases the availability of antioxidants in carrots, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, asparagus, cabbage, peppers, etc.

  • John Smith
John Smith 5 tahun yang lalu

But it is clear cooking takes away a fair amount of nutrients.

  • Clyde Rembrandt

Nevertheless, Mozafar found a relation between the amount of vitamin B12 in soil and the amount of vitamin B12 in spinach. According to the study, the spinach contained 235ug B12/kg spinach DW (20.2ug B12/kg wet weight spinach) when 10mg of pure B12/kg dry soil is applied. In light of this, it is disappointing that no further studies were done on increasing soil levels of vitamin B12 and what other (if any) leafy greens absorb vitamin B12 from the soil like spinach.

  • vshvideo
    vshvideo  5 tahun yang lalu

Mozafar only looked at 3 different plants: soybeans, barley, and spinach and compared their change in B12 for different types of growing soil. For plants grown in cow dung enriched soil compared to normal growing soil, there was no change in B12 for soybeans, and 2x to 3x more B12 in the Barley and Spinach. But even the increased B12 was very small and falls way short of the B12 RDA.
So based on this research, even if you grow your plants in organic soil, they may not supply enough B12.

Dr Gabriel Cousens is getting good results from a raw vegan high fat diet to treat type 2 diabetics and he seems to be also using anti diabetes vegan herbs like gymnema sylvestre leaves, american ginseng, etc. Some vegan doctors do not recommend a high fat diet to treat diabetes bec it could increase chances for heart disease and other problems in the long term. I do not think using vegan herbs in diabetes treatment is cheating since vegan herbs are also food altho some herbs tend to be heated.

I am more conscious of checking fiber in foods like coconut water & blackstrap molasses which have no fiber, lots of calories but have minerals so maybe they are ok for use as flavoring or in moderation. Even seemingly healthy sweeteners like blackstrap molasses can be quite addictive. Another exception is the vitamin b12 supplement which is refined food with no fiber and it is very hard to find vitamin b12 supplements without the hated sweeteners & artificial ingredients I am trying to avoid.

  • colonyofcells iamamachine2
colonyofcells iamamachine2 5 tahun yang lalu

I wonder about using coconut meat & coconut water in increasing fat & carb in my diet. Coconut water has a little fat altho some vegan doctors do not recommend coconut water bec of the little fat and sugar. Coconut meat has saturated fat but islanders in papua new guinea, hawaii, etc have always eaten coconuts and seem healthy until they started eating western food. Dr Michael Greger mentions a study saying coconut meat is neither good or bad. I ate lots of coconuts in Phil when I was a kid.

  • colonyofcells iamamachine2
colonyofcells iamamachine2 5 tahun yang lalu

Dr Michael Greger mentions an old study that managed to separate the high fat meat eaters and the high fat plant eaters and the high fat plant eaters were healthier. Dr Gabriel Cousens uses a 25% to 35% carb diet for reversing diabetes which is probably close to the typical 150 gram carb ADA diet (40% to 60% carb). This is done by reducing legumes, grains, fruit. Dr Gabriel Cousens raw vegan diet protein ranges from 20 grams to 70 grams which is close to the usual recommended amount of protein.

I am just an amateur and I just rely on the internet. Dr David Jenkins had one vegan study including almonds to lower cholesterol. Dr David Jenkins also had a high fat vegan study that had good results altho it is still lower in fat than the usual high fat animal based diets. Since most vegan food have some carb, it don't seem possible to do a vegan ketogenic diet. The ketogenic diets or high fat animal based diets tend to be deficient in micro nutrients.

  • colonyofcells iamamachine2
colonyofcells iamamachine2 5 tahun yang lalu

The vegan heart doctors tend to be stricter on nuts and seeds for people who already have serious heart disease and just get more minerals from cooked beans which are lower in fat. The raw eaters who eat less nuts and seeds sometimes just eat tons of fruits or tons of avocado or some sprouted grains. I recently started eating more vegetables which are quite low in calories and fill up the stomach fast making it difficult to eat other food to get enough calories so it is good for losing weight.

  • vshvideo
    vshvideo  5 tahun yang lalu

Cooked or raw? Depends on the food, some foods are pretty much inedible raw (beans, potatoes, taro, etc) which others can go either way with pluses and minuses to both prep methods. Sprouting changes the nutrient profile seeds and nuts into something more like baby vegetables. There is not a lot of research on whether its better to cook them or eat raw. I'm guessing it depends on the type of seed/sprout. Also sprouts are pretty fragile so not sure they would survive much cooking.

  • colonyofcells iamamachine2
colonyofcells iamamachine2 5 tahun yang lalu

I tend to microwave or boil my sprouted products except the omega 3 sources bec I heard that cooking or fermenting removes some toxins from seeds, nuts, legumes and grains. Sprouted seeds and nuts can help a lot in a vegan diet to get more minerals and I wonder is it better to eat them raw or to cook them ? Fermented food is processed so it is probably not raw even though many raw eaters eat them. I eat tempeh for L-carnitine and natto for vitamin k2 without any additional cooking.

Longevity researchers went to Okinawa for centenarian studies bec the place produced many people 100 years of age in spite of eating a little bit of animal products which was probably their source of vitamin b12. Once we see those vegan centenarian studies like maybe from Loma Linda CA, I am sure the publicity will convince many to adopt a 100% vegan diet. Dr Joel Fuhrman often mentions undiscovered micronutrients in vegan food and animal products might have them also (vitamin b12 and others).

Our remote tree ancestors and many traditional societies also ate insects which I heard are very nutritious and I would not rule out insects for food based on vegan philosophy or vegan ethics. Vegan longevity studies continue and more people will adopt a vegan diet once there is lots of evidence that health conscious vegans live longer than health conscious meat eaters and America can show tons of vegans who have reached 100 years of age or more. I pray that John Robbins and vegans can reach 100

  • colonyofcells iamamachine2

Longevity studies are many in Japan and I am sure they are trying to figure out if animal products, smoking and alcohol are affecting longevity. We already know animal products are a source of vitamin b12. We also know some wine have more resveratrol and some societies relied on alcohol products for antibiotics before antibiotics were discovered by the west. We also know that traditional societies that started smoking did get more lung disease altho I don't know if all smokes are the same.

  • Clyde Rembrandt
Clyde Rembrandt 5 tahun yang lalu

That's like saying that societies that smoke and drink the least live the longest. But no long lived society avoided tobacco and alcohol completely, so it makes sense to smoke and drink. Japan smokes more than the U.S. per capita and yet they have a longer average lifespan.

If you have a problem with B12 supplements you should defecate in your compost bin instead of your toilet. Water your garden with pond water (b12 has been found in pond water) and get your drinking water from the pond too

For my body's gasoline, I still prefer to burn carb gasoline like most people and see no reason to copy the Eskimo fat diet bec I am not aware of Eskimos living longer than others. Not sure how low to keep the fat grams for a typical 2,000 calorie intake. If I eat raw sprouted flax powder and raw sprouted chia powder, maybe I can reach about 5 g of omega 3 and shoot for about 15 g to 20 g of omega 6. I have noticed that even vegetables like spinach have salt so am doing my best not to add salt.

Doing my best to eat more raw food to avoid destroying the antioxidants. I cannot go 100% raw bec I like to eat mushrooms to help prevent cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Dr Michael Greger and Dr Joel Fuhrman say to cook mushrooms. I eat as many as 6 types of mushrooms regularly and I try as many as 20 different mushrooms. There are now brands of mushrooms (agaricus bisporus) which have vitamin d listed in the nutrition label which I eat to reduce dependence on tablets when no sunlight.

B12 deficiencies were more common among meat eaters and livestock animals too before industrial B12 supplements were invented. Livestock animals are supplemented prophylactically or at least as a remedy for B12 deficiency. The research of Mozafar demonstrated that plants can absorb B12 from B12 rich soils. However, this is not a reliable source of B12 for vegans because plants have no B12 requirement and therefore are grown with fertilizers that have trace amounts, if any, of B12.

I think the key word is "a little", it was a small part of their diets. A survey of the Okinawa diet in the late 1800's found 93% of their diet was sweet potatoes.

It can be difficult to make a case for 100% vegan based on desire for longevity since most long lived societies like those in Okinawa do eat a little animal product. The Japanese even eat some raw seafood since raw is probably the original human diet and clams are the best sources for vitamin b12. The earliest vegetarians in India relied on dairy products to avoid vitamin b12 deficiencies before b12 tablets were invented.
