  • The Audi A4 2020 has a new infotainment system based on the new touch focused MMI which appeared in the 2019 A8 & A7. We're seeing this new system head out to many of Audi's latest models including the 2020 A4. Nicole Scott and Don Dalhmann take a detailed look at the system and figure out if this touch focused interaction works on a single 10 inch tablet.

Do you guys know you don't need a cable to connect your smartphone to the Audi A4????????
    Welcome to the Century 21.
And let me introduce you to a concept called "Bluetooh".
    Wow what a funny review.

I have made the same experience. The Navigation System over voice control is horrible. The previous A4 MMI was so much better in understanding me. Furthermore the Navigation now shows me new routes which mostly are nonsense. I am so far that I prefer using Google maps on my phone instead of the Audi System. That's really sad and I hope for an Update. Still a nice car, but the infotainment is not working well. I am not even talking about the App :-/

Hey, does the system support wireless CarPlay?

This must be the worst review ive ever seen! No structure what so ever and talking over eachother like children.... Maybe a practice take before the real thing would help you next time.

22 minutes and they did not even show the virtual cockpit working. What the fuck.

Why are you not using descent mobile devices?

I sort of bought a 2019 S4 over waiting because I didn’t really like the touch screen only of the 2020. I’ve owned both Audi and BMWs and the 2019 BMW X3 I had had both touch screen and controller and worked extremely well. The MMI is good, not great, but between it and the Virtual Cockpit it makes it even between the brands. I fear touch only isn’t going the right direction. I also don’t like they went glossy black now around the shifter. Again, my BMW X3 had that but it was terrible. Scratches/smudges and shows dust!

Well I have a 2019 as well, but my friend recently got a Q8 with the dual touch screens. It looks "cooler" and I see why Audi is moving this direction. It makes the cabin feel more high tech and "fancy". BMW and Benz seem to not be moving to touch only like Audi. Just goes to show those companies agree with you.

That touchscreen looks way too big and intrusive. Really spoils the dash appearance imho.

Hmm... compared to BMW’s iDrive 7 this new MMI appears like coming from the last century. Very disappointing ;-)

Did I hear you say that you cannot use HUD and (iPhone) CARPLAY at the same time??

Unfortunately not all statements in this video are correct.

For instance, at 2:47 min you can clearly see that the connection is performed via bluetooth (bluetooth pairing dialog pops up on the infotainment), but both hosts pretend that they are connecting via cable.
At 3:50 min you can see the exact same dialog popping up on the infotainment, so in the end, both phones were connected via bluetooth.

Julian Walter I’ve noticed the same. My b9 doesn’t need the cable to be connected. Useless video

Nichts für ungut, aber die Menüs sehen doch sehr veraltet aus. Ebenso die Menüführung. Schade.
